      Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum, so just trying it out for the first time.

I have a google adwords problem I can't find the answer to.

I have basically been trying to put up ads for affiliate marketing in the last month, and for some reason they don't seem to want to work.

I was firstly told that my ad won't run because I am advertising a gambling product. So in order to be enabled to advertise it I would need to apply for a gambling licence/certificate. I did this and then a few days later I was refused the licence for whatever reason I can't remember.

So, I then set about advertising an iPhone product in the same way off a different website, and again the google ad didn't seem to want to work its elbow grease for me. Firstly the ad said that it was some kind of Copyright infringement, so I changed the wording away from iPhone to Mobile.

This didn't work either, so I then wrote an email to them and got a call from one of their helpers who was largely unhelpful unless I had a budget of £400 to spend, but the useful advice he did tell me was that due to iphones being a very popular item, it could be that my budget was set too low since some clicks may cost £3 or more, and with a budget of approx £15 per day, I would potentially only see 5 clicks.

So I then decided to try a more niche product with keyword bids being a lot lower. The item I chose to advertise was an ex travel agents insider guide to getting cheap flights.

This time the same happened as with the other ads i.e. they go onto 'pending review' then a while later it says 'approved' so I naturally think okay..we're off. But then sometimes it goes back onto 'pending review' sporadically even after being 'approved'.

Then I find out from an online google adwords optimisation webinar that I attended that you can use an 'ads diagnostic tool' which lets you check whether your ad is running or not. And it also tells you why the ad isn't running. So being the curious creature I am I naturally went back to my iPhone ad, switched it back on to see what the ads diagnostic tool came up with.

The below error message and reason is what it says for both my 'iPhone' and 'cheap flight' ad.

      Error Message:

These keywords are currently not showing ads due to the following reasons:
Reason: The keyword phrase doesn't currently trigger any of your ads.

      What does this mean?

There are a variety of reasons why your keyword is not triggering any ads. If you've just added the keyword phrase to your campaign, you may want to try again in a few moments to see if the status for your keyword has changed. Our specialists review each submitted keyword, so you may experience a momentary delay. Another explanation is that our system may be experiencing a delay.

      What can I do?

To improve your ad delivery, you may want to raise your daily budget since it directly affects your ad delivery. If your budget is set below the recommended budget, your ads may not receive all possible impressions.

This may be a fair reason why my iPhone ad won't work, but the niche 'cheap flight' ad can't have the same excuse surely.
In addition to that I have had ads up running on my account for my survey which have worked fine, without any system delays. I have also left it for days just in case it seems to think I have added keyword phrases that need to be updated, but still no let up.

I have written emails to google who claim they get back with a response within 24 hours, but I have frankly had no luck with them at all with responses whether by phone or email.

Does anyone have any idea where I am going wrong?

      Thank You In Advance,
      Peter

I have had Brad Callans 'SEO Made Easy' for some time, it was actually my first intro to SEO

Very good for the beginner, with a lot of useful information, but, Brad is a Marketer & when you know that, you see that his book is a very good vehicle for promoting his software & was obviously written for that reason

Nothing against that, it's still very good with a lot of good, sound advice

But as the majority of us have to pander to the whims of the Search Engines, particularly the big G, then I would rather take it from 'the horses mouth' so to speak

Although most of these books are geared towards the author selling 'add on' information products, i'm just grateful for any free advice I can get.

    What Google Webmaster Central says:

We felt that these areas (like improving title and description meta tags, URL structure, site navigation, content creation, anchor text, and more) would apply to webmasters of all experience levels and sites of all sizes and types.
