Interesting case study - the power of pinging

Hey there,

Pinging is not new at all, but when you are promoting a website you do so much stuff together than it is not so easy to know what really got results.

So I never really saw the power of pinging like I saw it in this case...

Picture this: brand new website, brand new domain, we started nice and easy with only 20 pages up of a full set of 350 more or less, basic seo on.

this is an authority site, so we take it slow.

We did a zero-stage promotion, started with search engine and directory submission, the big guys and smaller directories that ask for link back to force them to come and look (making a lil noise in google analytics).

and then we pinged... it was funny because - I don't know why - we only pinged 1 page, it was the site map.

All this was March 16, then let it marinate and moved to other stuff. On march 24 we check again. We are indexed for one page, guess which one? the site map.

first page for the domain url and page 20 out of a couple of mill results for the main keyword.

Funny how things go...
