Local Business Results seo?

Hey warriors, I have decided to step into the offline consulting area to help local business owners. I have a question though....i know how to make a great listing on local business results but... heres the prob. I live in foco, co, and lets say i have someone who wants their business under "restaurants fort collins". That brings up about 300 business' on the local results - so how do I get him to the top of all those listings? any advice is highly appreciated.

Just checked Godaddy,

bestfortcollinsrestaurants.com is available!

Starting with your keywords in your domain url is always a good start, especially with local seo, that what I've done for my clients and its been very successful so far.

Even if he has a site already, just get the domain name, setup a little blog and then send the traffic to his main site.

backlinks backlinks backlinks....i run a local business of my own, and show up third in a market of about 4 pages of results.

What KIND of restaurant is it...Italian, Chinese, Diner, Mexican, hamburger??? Try adding the kind of restaurant it is so shows up for that.
