How do you use Social Bookmarking?

I have a language learning website for Spanish speakers which gets about 200 visits a day- my medium term goal is to get this to 1000. I'll never get organic Google traffic because there are so many competitors. Can anyone suggest other ways to get traffic e.g how do people use Social Bookmarking sites? I've got a 'share this' plugin on my site, but don't seem to get much from it.

    For example digg brings me a lot of traffic any time when i post something new. If you have money to invest you can buy banners, it will bring you more traffic also.

    Make a fan page for the site on FaceBook, but don't be spammy, just a description and photo or graphic and a link to your site.

    (PS you can go to Get A FreeLancer, they have guys there that will provide you with 1K fans $10-$20 bucks. But then it starts growing virally by itself)

    Start a twitter account for the site

    Bookmark it or hire one of the Warriors in the classified section do get you say 100-200 bookmarks, its worth it the $10-$20 , believe me.

    Buy some seo automation software, it will make your life easier!

    Also go to mTurk, and pay people pennies to book mark you site

      Does it really work - paying for fans and bookmarking? Sounds too good to be true. Anyone who has done it, could they tell me the process/ give a recommendation.

    Yes this really working, like i told you i got a lot of visitors from digg for example. Try anyway it's for free.

    Social bookmaking is definitely another good source of traffic. You should use it as well as other techniques like article, content and social network marketing. All targeted traffic is good wherever it is sourced.

      Thanks. I'm afraid I'm really thick about this whole area. With the sociial bookmarking, do you submit something, or are you relying on people who come to your site doing that by using the share button. Any info on the basics of what to do would be great.

    Social Bookmarking do not bring a lot of traffic alone, for me anyway.
    However it good for fast rankings, and indexing. If you would like a stable SERP you will need to do other backlinking techniques.

    If you submit "how to make money online in 1 day" or some something like that of course it won't get you some traffic.

    I made a WP plugin, add to my site and I submit to digg to promote. Digg brought me a lot of visits, talking from experience.

    Each time you add new content, they send another bookmark for that specific page. This results in 'fast traffic' for many, depending on the popularity of the topic.
