Hi Warriors,

I have a blog that I like to rank in major search engines, possible on Top 10 listing. Just did my keywords research and selected few main keywords to rank.

Can anyone seo experts here to share some points to help on better seo ranking?

Thanks a lot!

    Simple ...

Buy lots of textlinks with your main keyword in its anchor text from related sites with a high PR. That should get you on top very quickly. All a question of money tho.

    Hope that helps

Nick pretty much summed it up there.

Assuming you've got your SEO sorted on your blog, a good place to start, then you'll probably want to start getting links.

Plenty of ways to do that with articles, blog comments, social bookmarking, press releases, videos...and many more.

What you do might be determined by how much time and / or money you have, what you enjoy doing (or hate doing).

The other question is how competitive are your keywords, some keywords you might rank well for in a few days. Others might take months of hard work.

If you let us know a little more about things like your budget and time etc then we might be able to give you a more detailed plan of attack.

Update your website every day by adding unique content. Also provide inside links, backlinks or you can exchange links with other websites. Do avoid being considered a "link farm" though.

Go to google and search for "jiggling the web" in the number 1 spot you will find a site from Michael Campbell that will highlight how to get the long tail pages of your blog ranking very high in Google.

Once you get a lot of inner pages ranking well in Google your home page becomes a lot easier to rank. Start out promoting the inner pages and building backlinks to them via all the traditional ways.. Social Bookmarking, Formum Posts, Blog Comments, Submitting Videos with TubeMogul, Article Submission etc.. Then when you get some traction on the inner pages you will notice your home page rising too.

Doing your SEO this way will give you quicker results as you are getting your longer tail pages ranked and getting traffic much quicker. This will give you an easier road to the top 10 for your main keywords.

Always build your links slowly and consistently - especially on a domain that is under 2 years in Google's index. The older a site is the more trust it has gained (assuming it has not been penalized in the past) and the more you can get away with.. Ie, tons of links in a short space of time, near duplicate content etc..

If you are using wordpress which I will assume you are, make sure you use a corerct robots.txt file to reduce the amount of duplicate content that Wordpress creates with its archives, tags etc.. again, if this is a newish site I would highly recommend this. You can find a sample robots file in Google or just message me and I'll send you the one I use.

Be sure to also use the 2 most important plugins..

    Google Sitemap Generator
    Platinum SEO Plugin

    Hope this helps,

In my experience is is easier to rank an article on a popular article directory than your own website for may keywords.

What I like to do is write a keyword rich article and submit it to articlesbase.com and ezinearticles.com. After the articles go live I grab the URL and head over to the WSO section of the forum where I hire someone to build backlinks for me.

I like to get a variety of backlinks from different sources to the articles themselves. These backlinks come from blog commenting, profile forum links, forum posts, and other article directories. Having a variety of dofollow links is a great way to get your article on the 1st page of Google fast.

All above is great. Articles - incl. submission tools and private article networks and blog networks with submission scripts, videos, comments on blogs and forums, bookmarks of course, dropping links on web 2.0 properties and in profile pages. Using software tools to find high PR sites .edu and .gov and post on them, free press releases, etc etc.

Note that some Squidoo pages can get a very high PR but you#ll need a significant amount of work driving links to that lens to get there.

Beware of linkfarms and of bad link neighbourhoods, or blackhat tools, as these could get you sandboxed.

You can try the method I use. Sign up to xomba.com and write a keyword rich article and tie it to your blog and submit it to xomba. Then wait about 30 minutes and go check google for your article title.

Depending on keywords being used and density, and competition, you might see your site quite possibly on the #1 slot within a few minutes.

I have used this method with great success!

Personally, i pick about five high ranking article directory and put up quality content on a frequent basis. And this article gets picked up by other website owners who include your link/anchor. If you do this well, you can have a lot of quality links in a short while.

Meanwhile forums, social bookmarking, hubpages, directories, blog commenting are other methods i use.

Aim to link to a variety of site in a month, its very essential and also try deep linking. That is building link to your site/blog and other blogs from your main blog.

Remember that Google loves content, and seeing how what you want to rank is a blog, that is the perfect venue for you to let loose and add valuable content. Make sure you implement all of the on-page and off-page SEO methods. Then be patient and consistent.

Wow, all this advice on getting to the first page in Google is staggering.

Yes, it takes a little work. Just remember that it takes just as much work to sell a $1. product as it does a $1,000. product.

Do you have a product that you are marketing that is worth the effort?

    Just a thought.

All the other answers are great...I didn't have anything to add so thought I'd give you a comment on sales in general!

    Good luck.

SEO is the way to go but as it pertains to being a long process, that's up for debate. The simple process of just social bookmarking a site is seo. Adding a video to your site can get it ranked fast with a good keyword choice in title.

You can take a blog and build articles, press releases around it and link these pages to your money page be it your blog, etc. I would not focus on linking too much, too quickly to your money site as it could result in the reverse effect and not get listed or worse, sand-boxed by google. This just means you will not see your main site for a long, long time if ever.

I would have a few blogs, articles pointing to your money page and then focus on getting links to these sites through bookmarking, rss feeds, directory submissions. If pages that are linking to your money page(blog) have good back links then this can create link juice, which is basically just giving your page a push up the ranks because the other pages that link to your page have good back-links.

It can seem overwhelming at first, just take it slow and do what works for you with the time that you have which can be allotted to the process.

A lot of great advice from everyone so far and this is just one of many things you can do in order to get on the 1st page of google. Nothing happens over night and never in your time but at the right time.

That's something new I am reading and it has never happened to me before.

There are many ways to trick the search engines but search enginges are getting smarter every month that passes. One trick that I know of that SEO's used to do is type their keyword back to back on their page where ever they can fit it then change the color of the font to match the background.

As a result the visitors to your website won't see the hidden keywords but the search engines still think it's there and then rank your page high. This method barely works anymore because now if serch engines feel that they're being manipulated they will ignore your site.

One way to make sure that you have just enough keywords on your page is have 1 to 2 keywords for every 125 words you type. Also MAKE SURE you have your meta tags with your keywords in them. In addition, make sure your headline has your keyword in it.

Most importantly see to it that the keyword you are using has enough DEMAND for it. If nobody is looking for your keyword (typing it in the search engine ) there is no reason for the search engine to rank it highly. It would also help if you chose a keyword that has low supply also, which means that less people are making sites to satisfy the demand.

One of the most important are links to your website. The more people have your link on their website the furthur you get to the first page. You also need to have great content to satisfy your visitors. If you don't have great content your visitors will not visit your site again.

People also "buy" their way to the top and purchase SEO's services to put them there but when their money runs out . . . so does their reign as top 10 position on the first page. Two of the pages in my site are on the first page in Google Search and I didn't need an SEO. If you satisfy the search engines they will satisfy you.

Firstly target long tail keywords (work your way up to the main competitive ones)

Then optimize your themed content in silo's for that keyword... 2-3% keyword density, HTML tags - <title>, <alt>, <meta> etc tags. Google 'Latent Semantic Indexing' to see how to write your content... it pretty much means using related words ie) if you're trying to rank for 'dog training'... you might want to use phrases such as 'When training your dog not to bark...' etc

Then get lots of backward links to the silo, using the anchor text of your main keyword. Angela's Backlinks (google it) is good for that. I find putting AdSense on content gets new sites indexed quicker in Google.

Best way to rank is to choose the right keywords.

And by right I mean easy.

Majority of marketers can not rank for even mid level competitive terms. If you are just starting out then it would take you months to years... if you even manage to get there.

Start with some easier keywords, get some rankings quickly, make money then start going after slightly more competitive terms.

After you have some easy keywords in mind- get angela and pauls backlinks pack and either add links yourself or outsourse it.
