about webmaster tools results

Hello , I'm using webmaster tools to get some results about seo of my site. The problem is that some of them are really strange.

Especially:

a) Links to my site : 0 but i have a lot of backlinks , from forum signatures , blogs posts , directories etc.

b) i uploaded a sitemap before 2 days , and i get the result:indexed urls 10 at webmaster tools. But if i check this from this site selfseo.com/search_engines_index_report.php i get 480 indexed pages.
This is true because if write at google "site:my site link" i see a lot of indexed pages and not only 10

Any information would be useful .

    Webmaster tools won't show you all your backlinks, it's just a guide.

    Your sitemap will of course only show you what you have entered into your sitemap.

    check to see when the site map was last updated and when Google last uploaded it. On one of my sites, the map will occasionally not get updated with google and I have learned to keep an eye on all of my site maps.

      Hey,

      If Google Webmaster is showing these inaccurate results, does that mean that the results for searches are inaccurate also? Ie. Clickthrough, SERP, etc.?

    The backlinks aren't inaccurate, Google just won't reveal all the backlinks that it knows about.

    Use yahoo site explorer for backlink checking to get a comparison to whatever you are using now.

      I agree with aarondwyer, Yahoo Site Explorer is better, although they are not that fast as Google in updating the incoming links and the new web pages.

      The links that show in the Google Webmaster tools are important pages that Google takes note of. Of course they can also choose not to show all the links to your website.

      Especially for forums and blog comment, most properly will not be shown in the webmaster tools.

        Does that means ,that links that don't show in Google Webmaster tools , don't count also to calculate the page rank?
