Is Google the only company that can get away with such arrogance

I have only just realized how arrogant Google really is?

Who else would have the audacity to have an affiliate program where they don't disclose the % of their commission payouts. I am talking about adsense here.

Imagine if you started a affiliate program and said "every time you sell our product we will pay you some money sorry but it's against our policy to reveal how much we pay are affiliates"

How many affiliates do you think you would get Google has millions go figure.

Yahoo and Chitika don't tell you the payout either.
So I guess everybody is arrogant.

I don't like google as a company either, however, you are comparing apples to oranges. You are comparing affiliate commissions to per click payments on contextual ad clicks. These are two totally different monsters my friend.

This is indeed a good point. You must bear in mind however that Google Adwords ads (and therefore the ads displayed through Adsense) work on a bidding system and as such CPCs are constantly subject to change without notice, at any time.

So what difference would it make if Google told you they were going to pay you 50% of every CPC when 50% one minute might mean 74 cents and than an hour later might mean 7 cents?

Not to mention that in my experience, if a visitor clicks on more than 1 Google at any given time, Google doesn't then pay out the maximum amount they would've, since it's more likely that one or more of those clicks has gone to waste (the user is only going to take action on one of those ads - not all of them), and so Google seems to shave some off the click cost.

It's a complex beast, really. I believe - judging by the amounts of the products being advertised on sites I have (and therefore the amount per click an advertiser is likely willing to bid if there is competition), and by my own payouts, that we get around half of whatever the advertiser is charged.

But again, that means practically zilch when what they're charged changes 24/7.

If you don't like it, don't use Adsense.

Hmm so I guess with that logic we should NEVER complain about anything and let companies do whatever the hell they like?

Reminds me of the Amazon affiliate thread I started a little while ago where I was complaining about their low commissions.

People were saying who cares, Amazon converts well, dont use them if you dont like it blah blah.....I dont give a crap how well Amazon converts, doesn't mean we should be happy about low commissions.
