More backlinks than my competitor?

hello everyone, Does getting more quality back-links than my competitor means google will place me in a higher position?

    It is a one of the most important factors but it does not necessarily mean that you will outrank your competitor always. There are other factors to consider and with google you just never know sometimes. But in most cases the answer to your question is yes. Build links and if you don't outrank them then keep building more.

    It is a key factor. Assuming that the quality of the links are the same. I.E. if your competitor has 10 links from well trusted major sites and you have 10 links from spammy pages, he will rank higher.

    Other factors include age of domain, amount of content etc
