Has Google Targeted Mass Social Bookmarking?

I've heard from several people that their site's ranking slipped after using one of the automated social bookmarking tools like Social Bot. SBM'd 125 sites across the board; site dropped to next page a couple of days later. Leaves a suspicious footprint, don't you think? Last thing we need to be doing is spending valuable time on something that kills sales.

    I agree. It's amazing that ppl keep using these stupid automated tools to shortcut the system. If you backlink - do it manually. I still think that on-page optimization in small niches is probably the best way to go. Just my 2 cents...

    I agree, I think manual bookmarking is the way to go and if you don't have time to do it yourself, there are some great WSO that you can utilize to make the process faster and more natural looking.

    Unfortunately there is no one reliable scheduling bookmarking software, that's why bookmarking service is there to fill the place.

    Try joining some bookmarking services, look around at the WSO, you should find some great stuff there.

      Please have that person, (if you can) join the WF, come to this thread and share with us what happened. I GUARANTEE you they mis-used the software. The easy way to determine if that is the case is to have them share the steps they took using the software. Until then, we can only hypothesize, speculate and engage in conjecture.

      Uh, have you ever wondered how certain AD's rise to the top of the SERPs so fast and remain there? Used right, SB can be another powerful arsenal in your backlinking toolbox.

      The automated tools are not stupid anymore than your computer is stupid. The automated tools do exactly what humans program them to do.

      People, people, people, do you really think the those selling bookmarking services are actually manually posting bookmarks? C'mon people, please tell that's not what you believe!

      They use the automated tools. The only deal is they know how to use them! I did a test on a well known bookmarking service about a year ago who claimed they were doing MANUAL bookmarking. I gave them 12 URLs to bookmark across 30 Social bookmarking sites. They sent me a detailed report in 48 hours. The report was the same one put out by BMD. Go figure, so much for manual bookmarking.

      kkchoon, actually BMD has a great scheduler and as long as the person:

      (a). Puts in enough proxies
      (b). Uses the cover mix rule (covers their URL with a mixture of unrelated URLS)
      (c). Runs the PHPDug, separate from the Main Sites, separate from the Pligg sites, separate from the Scuttle sites.
      (d). Runs the top tier Main Sites separate from all of the other sites
      (e). Has enough fresh email accounts and profiles for every run
      (f). Doesn't ping each run at the time they bookmark (This is what gets a lot of people. Sometimes you just have to let the bookmark get picked up by the SERPs naturally.)
      (g). Don't bookmark sales pages, affiliate offers or any other site or page that goes against the site's TOS you want to leave a bookmark. (This is another common infraction they gets a lot of accounts deleted.)
      (h). And most importantly schedule your SB over a long period of time. This may seem like overkill, but I set up a computer to do nothing but bookmark, RSSFeeds and Article posting. If I'm bookmarking 50 URLs for the day, I may schedule it to complete that run in eight hours and go on to my next project while its doing its thing. BMD has an alarm to sound off if human intervention is needed during the process.

      So to answer the question, no the Big G hasn't targeted SB. We just need to learn how to properly use the automated tools.
