If I found a good .com with my keyword(s) in it but it has something like 'fast,' or 'easy' in it would that make a big difference? Like if I am targeting red cars and found fastredcars . com should I buy it, or try to find a different set of keywords where I can buy 'bluecars . com?'

The short answer is YES, it will make a difference. Having the exact keyphrase is better than having the keyword with a prefix or suffix. The extra word(s) dilute the relevancy somewhat.

How much it will dilute it, I cannot say - and for that matter, neither can anyone else. To a degree, it depends on the strength of that competition and how much of an edge having the keyphrase in the domain would actually have given you in the first place.

I will say this, though. If your niche keyphrase(s) looks good, don't pass it up just because you can't find an exact match domain. Add a prefix/suffix and go after it anyway.

If you let every small "setback" put you off, you will ultimately spend more time looking for the perfect keyword, the perfect domain, etc, than you likely would've put in by doing a little extra backlinking to rank for the keyphrases you passed up on.

Thanks man. This is actually my biggest problem, I procrastinate too much. I am working to fix that though.

Definitely echo Dire straits, don't pass on the keyword over the domain, having the phrase in the domain is good enough, backlink anchor text takes care of the rest, I've had great success with domains with prefixes!

I highly recommend exact matches whenever possible.

Having keywords in the domain are going to help even if it has a word like fast in it, just not so much. If you really want to be in a niche and cannot get an exact match, go for keyword rich.
