I have a good keyword number 1 in yahoo and many page 1 listings for major keywords in my niche that get zero traffic.

In google Im no where to be seen for my big keywords, can anyone tell me the big differences in how yahoo and google rate pages please ?

I don't get nearly as much traffic from Yahoo as I once did. I have a couple of high traffic sites that are #1 in yahoo and google, and even those don't get all that much from Yahoo. One thing I will tell you is if you are #1 in yahoo now, you are likely to see a similar result in google in the near future.

what the site and what are the keywords? Usually ranking in Yahoo and rankings in Google are pretty similar.

      Hi thomasr,

I dont like to post my sites, what I can tell you though is I changed my layout very recently and its since then that my yahoo ratings have jumped.

All I did was change the theme (which I dont think made a difference) but the big change was allowing 30 posts on my home page so now my home page has 30 page titles and a crap load of content.

Edit: Also created anchor links in sidebar to important pages with keywords.

Its the home page that has started to rank for all the keywords in yahoo.

Well I just checked my keywords and sure enough google is falling in-line

Not quite there yet, page 6 for main keyword and if yahoos ranking are anything to go by there are some other very good keywords Im hoping to start ranking for soon.

200,000 broad searches per month and around 12,000 exact.

Now down to some more backlinking .... boo

    This happens with certain keywords.

I used to rank as #1 for a key term that had a couple hundred searches a week - I barely saw a trickle come in from this. Come to find out, most of the people doing the search were people just like me - looking to rank high for it. That's something you might want to check on, just who is doing the searches.

We have alot of number ones in Google and Yahoo doesn't mean people are searching for it and maybe a few are but still you will see no difference. Find the keywords that have alot of searches and even at times it shows it will be searched but no sales or contacts from it.
