Hiding Your Keywords From Publishers

I think I am now hiding what keywords I am using to go directly to a publisher website from a ppc network, thus they actually never see what keyword I am using to send people there -- effectivley stopping them from also bidding on it.

EX

Ad runs on ppc network for publisher. User clicks on ad and goes to my website, mywebsite simply redirects to publishers domain (happend in backround very quick).

Anyone agree this will work -- or did I miss something?

    I am a little confused. If you are bidding on the keyword "widget", if someone else is interested in the keyword "widget" they will simply search for it and see your ad and know you too are bidding on it. I don't see how you are hiding it.

    Also, just FYI, you can't use the method you describe with AdWords if that is your plan.

    It is not hiding from the laymen who is typing it in general term keywords looking for other ads, it is hiding from the publishers who are looking at there website logs and seeing all this traffic coming from particular keywords (ones you are sending to them) -- and they know which ones are converting -- you do not.So easy for them to then start using them.

    Point is - you find some keywords that no one will be thinking of getting a large amount of traffic to publisher you really do not want the publisher to know cause they will steal your ideas.

    The relay method I am using is used by most tracking systems (i.e. you go to tracking website - it then redirects to real website) - I do not think it should have effects with google as final url is actually the display URL and this is what google cares about.

    Thus looks like this

    Display Bestcarsinworld.com

    Actual URL http://swiftnetmarketing.com/cars/ << this redirects to bestcarsinworld.com

    I see no mention on adwords help about not allowing redirects. In fact they say to check them for slowness..i.e.

    Multi-second meta refreshes
    Redirects that use multi-second meta refreshes are a common culprit. If you have a redirect set to occur after several seconds, change it to zero seconds so that the redirect happens immediately.

    Slow redirects
    To check the speed of your redirects, copy and paste your Destination URL into a web browser to see how long the browser spends on each redirect URL. You can get more precise values using a tool like Fiddler (English only).

    Multiple redirects
    Each redirect increases your landing page load time. If you have more than one redirect, consider eliminating unnecessary ones.

    I think they mean the ad itself cannot contain the URL that is the redirect (thus the display url not the actual URL). Thus I am acutally sending the user to the exact landing page stated in my display url

    Our man Perry Marshall states that the actual URL can be a tracking URL in the definitve guide.
    and I also found this from somewhere else..

    "According to Google, they will no longer accept "display URL's that are actually redirects of a primary domain".

    Tracking URL's are okay unless you use a tracking URL that "leads to a landing page with a URL that deviates from your ad".""

    BUT -- can the tracking URL be on a different domain....that redirects....I think it can (at least I have been doing it like this for a few years)....but I will double check...

    I found this on another forum.This is basically a redirect and is what I am doing.


    You should copy/paste your CJ affiliate link (which is a tracking
    link) into the Destination URL field and the TLD (top-level-domain)
    part of your Landing Page into the Display URL field. In other words,
    do it this way:

    Display URL: Designer Apparel | Designer Dresses | Designer Jeans
    Destination URL: Designer Apparel | Designer Dresses | Designer Jeans




    Tracking URLs

    Your ads will be approved if the URL of your landing page domain matches that of your display URL domain.

    For example, the following would be acceptable:

    * Display URL: www.google.com/adwords
    * Destination URL: www.trackingurl.com/google123
    * Landing page URL: www.google.com

    However, this example would be unacceptable:

    * Display URL: www.google.com/adwords
    * Destination URL: www.trackingurl.com/google123
    * Landing page URL: www.trackingurl.com
