Manual keyword research vs Software

Hi there,

I'm dovinda, a newbie to these forums. I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know these forums.

I'm considering buying niche keyword software when I can afford to, I've been researching these forums, videos and blogs, etc, and I've read alot about the different software packages and using the free stuff such as google trends, adwords, wordtracker etc.
I was wondering about people's experiences of using free tools to conduct niche keyword/competition research as opposed to using software?
I cannot imagine it could be quicker, but has anyone had success with their own method's, or is it vital to buy MNF or MS, etc?

Your thoughts and knowledge would be appreciated.

Thanks,

D.

I use market samurai and love it! The result extracted from Google keyword tool and provide a lot of detail analysis to help you find those keyword gem!

MNF is similar, but after I use MS, I never look back again.

Try to make some research with Google Keyword Tool.
It's a little bit stupid to buy such expensive things such as Market Samurai if you don't have any experience in this field.
In my opinion it is better to start from the GKR, and then to see your needs for software's or something else.

I have micro niche finder and it has worked pretty well. I personally think that all you really need is the adwords keyword tool and some out of the box thinking. I find many micro niche keywords to exploit during my lunch break at work. All I have available to me is the adwords keyword tool.

Don't use software until you get good at doing it manually. You will develop a kind of sixth sense after a while for good keywords.

HINT: Get SEO for Firefox. All you have to do is use the Google KW tool with SEO for Firefox, and thats all you'll need. I can find 10 great KW's in 5 minutes like that.
