I'm setting up a new Adsense site and was wondering from experience what you think is more effective - using a wordpress blog or just plain html like I see others doing.

Thanks
Steve

I would personally prefer to build a HTML website but as many seem to post wordpress does have it's advantages.

Maybe you could create a brand new adsense wordpress theme based for the purpose of adsense being strategically placed in certain parts of the blog.

I'd always go with a static site if web design is not a problem for you. Using CSS makes for the most search engine friendly code.

WP is fine if you tweak it for SEO. But you are still limited with the AdSense ad placements compared to a static site.

If you have the time then I would set-up a html site but if you want to something that is quick and easy to update then a blog may be a better idea for you.

My experience suggests that setting up a blog with All in One SEO pack, and a long ping list gets instant Google results. #1 rankings for long tail keywords with up to 50,000 competing pages in 15 to 20 minutes. For a novice (with a hosting account that uses cpanel and Fantastico), blogs are great. PM me if you want to see an example.

    All true.

I would seriously consider Wordpress though if you are starting out. They are indexed more frequently, are easily more search engine friendly and encourage more interaction from their users.

There are also loads of great SEO plugins too.

    Good luck.

The advantage of Wordpress is SPEED. Until a keyword has proven moneymaking potential, do things as quickly and easily as you can. This is also a use for things like Squidoo lenses etc.

If you see that you can actually make money off of that keyword, you may want to scale up, create an authority site and drive some serious traffic around it - in which case a custom site is probably more effective than Wordpress.
