Are content network leads any good?

Hey guys,

I just wanted to see what your opinion is of leads that come off the content network.

I am running a banner advertising campaign on Google content network and from the initial reaction, these leads are not as good as I would want them to be.

Obviously, the best leads are the buyer leads from a JV. When it comes to PPC, search network leads are better than content network leads.

Therefore, my question is, have you tested the quality of leads that come off the content network? How much do you spend per lead on the content network?

I know it will vary but I just want to get an idea.

Thanks everyone in advance,

Peter

depends on how you do it. The leads will be perfect if you go through the relationship building phase with them, ya know?

They will be good if you start out targeting the proper sites. A site about dogs is not going to generate good leads if you are selling something related to gardening.

Depending on what niche and which sites those traffic coming from, you need to test it.

    Thanks guys.

let me ask you the following question then:

do you think it's a good idea to send content network traffic to a squeeze page for a webinar, like a gotowebinar type of squeeze page? Once they signup, they would be directed to a 90 minute live TARGETED CONTENT webinar with a sales pitch at the end.

    Or do you think:

I should direct them to a regular landing page where I build a relationship with them and then, after couple of weeks, send them to the webinar?

In the end, it's about testing but so far, I have been getting very low success with option #1. I haven't tested much of option #2 but as of right now, it looks like it would be a good choice to do it.

    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

No. Squeeze pages that are just "sign up here to get free stuff" and nothing else don't get good QS for one thing. Most people will also not give even their email, they'll want to know more, so you're wasting your advertising dollars.

Advertising is suppose to lure them in with the carrot to get them to read your sales message. That's what prospects want, information right away. Sell the webinar, what it's all about. If you do a good job, you'll get more signups this way.
