Hi,

To build backlinks there is a method of profile do follow links on the forums.
To be sure to understand the principle. I subscribe to the forum, I filled my profile pointing to my homepage.
The operation is finished or should I do something else ?

( Sorry for my English I'm French )

    That's basically it.

    You can ping the website and/or your profile page too. Just be sure that you can access your profile even when you are logged out. You want your backlinks on publicly viewable profiles, not profiles that can only be viewed by members.

    I think you will also have to regular visit the forum and participate in some interesting threads, so you maintain your profile image and views.

    I would suggest to make a post also in forum like in introductions section if its there ..this will help you to get your profile indexed and make it look less spammy

    You also need to participate in various discussions. It'll help you to highlight your profile to the other members who are also in the discussions.

    Profile link do not need forum participation...

    However, participating the forum(s) has a lot of advantages, but that's called forum marketing.

      I think I will only participate in the forums close to the theme of my website.

    I agree with kkchoon, don't participate in any threads at all if you just want the backlink. You risk getting banned if you participate in any of the discussions going on.

    Unless you want to do forum marketing as mentioned by kkchoon, then yes you can participate in the forum.

      It's important to note that most of your profiles won't get indexed on their own and as such, they'll be useless.

      Get a copy of Carl Ringwall's Backlink Indexer Express and Sean Donahue's Backlink Booster. They're both available in the WSO section and will help you out.

        Pinging helps, but yes there are more advanced ways of helping Google find your backlinks, i.e. your profiles.

        I have no idea about those WSOs you mentioned, but I covered my method of showing Google your backlinks in my soon-released product - The Niche Butcher.

          Both of those scripts work with ping.fm - They automatically update your free blogs created through ping.fm at web 2.0 sites with content and links to your profiles.

          The key is to send heaps and heaps of links to your web 2.0 properties to get them crawled regularly and then your profiles will get indexed very quickly.

    In support of the idea of participation in some forums discussions: apart from profiles, some forums give you dofollow links in your signature. Usually you have to male X number of posts to be allowed to have this, but from my experience it's worth it as you enjoy both dofollow and direct hits (if your sig is relevant to the thread/forum).

    If you want only backlinks, then there is no need to participate. If you participate in a forum that is not related to your niche, then there is more chance of getting banned. First create profile, put your links and the get the links indexed. The hardest part is to get the Profile URL indexed. But you can do it..

      If you do that you go that route you will be wasting hours of precious time. As Pat has already stated just get Backlink Booster or Backlink indexer express,preferably both.

    There seems to be some contradicting views regarding pinging profile links. Some say they should be left alone to be discovered naturally while others say they should be pinged or they'll never be indexed.

    So which is it? Anyone actually managed to conduct some kind of conclusive experiment?
