Hi everyone. Can somebody please advise me?

I have been writing and distributing articles for a few months to build some back links to my site but also posting the same articles in my site blog to add some fresh content. Now I dont know if I have done the right thing or not?

Will I be penalized for this? Are the search engines just looking for a link or will they consider it duplicate content or spamming because the same article also exists in my blog?

Regards,

Chris

    Hi ChrisGrayson,

There is nothing to worry about as long as your are the author of the article. They may only show one of your articles in the search results, but it's your article either way, so no harm, no foul.

duplicate content (when its picked up by Google) is never good and my thought it you will be penalized.

Duplicate content is a myth. If you do a search on here, you'll a 14+ page thread debunking it.

The only caveat I would give is to post the articles to your own blogs first and then send them off to the article directories. I do it all the time and Google gives me good juice for it.

Those duplicate content stories are urban legend. All you are doing when send your posts to the article directories is syndicating them. In Google's eyes that just means they are interesting to people and therefore important.

i think you should do the other way around ..publish it first on your blog and republish it on article submission site with minor revision the first site that published it will gain credibility in the eyes of google

all the internet is a big duplicate content, every article get syndicated thousands of times.
I have sites which are re-organizing info from other sites, music related for example: all the site is news (as is from RSS), lyrics (the same as other sites) , pics, etc.
Not a single piece (well maybe a little intro text) of original content and it has massive amounts of traffic and G loves it
In my opinion what matters most is not to do exatcly the same layout all the time,
when spinning articles, use video, fonts changes, pictures in different places, etc, that will make a difference, not the content
And as has been said here. Duplicate content is a myth.
