Authority Site Builders: Why Does E-How.Com Work So Well?

Hello Everyone:

I have been looking at E-How trying to figure out how it works so well and why their pages seem to rise to the top of google for a given subject.

I know they are an authority site.

I know they have writers who write for them.

In looking at the articles, the keyword research is okay, but nothing to write home about. And some of the information is pretty thin.

The keyword and directory structure does not seem to lend itself to SEO (that I know of) necessarily. Is it that when you are that big, you do not need to have same kind of structure as say a niche site?

I don't think that they are promoting their pages with Web 2.0 or anything like that. Could it be the number of inbound links that people are voluntarily giving. I guess I have done that with them before.

Just curious as to what an SEO authority site builder's thoughts are.

Google must have some form of manual award to websites which are properly moderated. I agree with you about the content. It's not much better than Yahoo answers or something similar.
