Can anyone explain exactly how to use social bookmarking to send traffic to my site ?

Hi guys,

Just wondered exactly how you use social book marking to send traffic to your site ? Do you just submit your site with a good description and hope it gets lots of digs or what ? i`m unsure exactly what it is i`m suppose to do to really get my site involved in the social bookmarking sites !

  Yeah i kind of know this but thats really just using your bookmarks for backlinks i get the feeling some folks here on the warrior forum are using social bookmarking to directly drive traffic to their site and wondered how they do it ?

  So basicly theres nothing more to it than submitting your site with a good discription and hoping it gets liked and the social bookmarkers digg it or stumble it ect ect.. ?

Use exceptional headlines. Social bookmarking clients will observe the headlines of your articles first. If they don't like your headlines then it's doubtful that they'll give the rest of your works another possibility. Keep headlines small but attractive. keep in mind to include targeted keywords in your headlines.

hey Jim,

it's all about driving traffic to your site, just write an eye-catchable title, nice description of your post and give a link to your page.

you can use socialposter for submitting, it's easy halfautomatic way to submit it on lot of social bookmarking sites, it will also help you with creating accounts on them.

Here are the main points about getting success from social bookmarking that you have to consider..

1. Social bookmarking is simply a way for people to share links with like minded people. Obviously the upside of that for us marketers is if we receive bookmarks to pages on our sites it increases exposure to our pages.
2. Voting for bookmarks (Digg, reddit etc.) is a great way of getting more attention for those pages.
3. The backlink side of things is minimal from social bookmarking, the social buzz and exposure is everything.

What does all this mean? What it means is that to satisfy all three points above, you have to have excellent, buzzworthy, informative, brilliant, thought provoking content on your site. Does that sound to difficult to achieve? It might, but it really isn't, you just need to know exactly what makes your niche tick, what their hot buttons are then give them what they are looking for in your content. You need to scratch their itch!

All it takes is for several people to bookmark and vote for your content and this has a positive viral effect. As people bookmark and vote, your bookmarks get exposed to more people as the bookmarks get a higher profile. This means more people read your content and also bookmark and vote. The whole cycle repeats = loads of traffic and social buzz (a ranking factor with Google).

1. For success, it is all about the content first, second and last..
2. Only bookmark your own pages to create the exposure.
3. Only vote for your own pages to increase that exposure.
4. Spread it over many many different accounts.
5. NEVER, EVER SPAM tons of links.
6. Keep everything natural.
7. Use automated tools wisely.
8. Bookmark other pages that don't belong to you.

  Here is a step by step solution to using social bookmarks to increase traffic.
  
  To increase traffic on a site you can do the following:
  
  1) Add a backlink in the form of an article to your site.
  2) add several more articles (use good unique content)
  3) create a website with an RSS feed like a blog
  4) make an article for each of your backlink articles with links to them
  5) Now you have an RSS feed that will link to all your backlink articles
  6) Go to ping.fm
  7) create a profile for all the social sites that are available in ping.fm (only have to do this once)
  8) Then you use twitterfeed.com to feed your RSSfeed to ping.fm
  
  Whaaalaaa now everytime you submit a link and then add it to your blog in step 3 it will get added to all your social network profiles
  To make it better ping.fm and twitterfeed are free
  
  This is very cool stuff and very powerful
