Hello Warriors
I have read that if I have original content listed on my website as articles, I can submit them as is to Article Directories as it won't be seen by Google as duplicate content as it was originally on my own website. Or should I spin?
Regards
Tony

It will still obviously be seen as duplicate as it is the same article with the same title. If you are asking will it hurt your ranking for the page on your site? No, it won't hurt but the article in the directory is possibly going to end up in the supplemental index.

Ask yourself whether it is a good idea to have an article in a directory linking to the same article on your site? The link from the article directory should be for further reading not the same article.

I would recommend at least changing the article title, the article keywords and at least 30% of the article content before submitting to directories. If you don't, the article on your site could end up being filtered out of the results (especially if you submit to high ranking article directories that could potentially rank higher than your own website).

    Cheers,

Steve brings up a good point here that very few people ever seem to mention. One thing to do is to point article 1 in the directory to (related) article 2 on your site. So you aren't just pointing the same article back to the same article.

It's not a bad idea to rewrite the article that you submit to insure that you always have a unique version on your site.

Google indexes and ranks duplicate content constantly.
They do it willingly and knowingly. It's what one does
      with it that matters.

EZA is full of nothing but duplicate content, as one small
example. I say small because every newspaper in the world
quotes and publishes articles by AP or Reuters.

How many people have started threads about someone copying
      their website?

Their is a sticky above which should be required reading for anyone
who wants to post. It addresses most of these issues.:
What's the truth about duplicate content?

There is no duplicate content penalty when it comes to multiple sites. Otherwise, your shady competitors could just create near-clones of your site to make your site disappear. But that doesn't happen. Indeed, run a search for a PLR article and you'll likely see many SE results for that same article.

TIP: Nonetheless, it's better if you have unique content, rather than competing with others for the same keywords using similar content.

What about duplicate content on your OWN site? In other words, what happens if you have two web pages with the same content but different file names? In that case, refer to the question on rel-canonical for instructions on how to deal with this.
