I want to run my two websites on single hosting. I want your advice on following:

Is this good for seo
Are search engines giving negative ranking to websites which are on same server.

I hope you guys will understand my question. I look forward to hearing from you guys.

It is a non issue. This forum shares one with 7.
My free wordpress blogs share them with thousands.
    All interlinked.
My squidoo lenses share them with zillions.
    All interlinked.
I own 5 domains, all on the same server. They are
    shared with at least 1,000.

There is some myth around, I'm not sure how or why it
    started.

Some even go to the extreme about have only one backlink
from IP. Then that means someone like me, who has literally
hundreds of links from warrorforum, had better delete those sigs
    and fast.

But you will get all sorts of answers, most are just "I feel..."

    Feelings are not SEO.

If you want hundreds of domains on the same server, interlinked,
go for it. But when you do stuff like that, you are probably doing
things wrong to begin with. And that's where the trouble is.
    Not the same IP.

I won't mention much about subdomains, but subdomains are looked
at as a separate domain. So, in effect, people would need to not do
any subdomains. But what's funny, is there is a thread here preaching
    doing subdomains. Go figure.

It just goes around and around.

    Hello,

It sounds like you are intersting.

A reverse IP domain ensures takes a domain name or IP address position to a web server and seek for other sites known to be hosted on that same web server. Data is collect from search engine results, which are not definite to be complete. Knowing the other web sites hosted on a web server is important from both an SEO and web filtering point of view, mostly for those on shared web hosting plans

  • i personally have found little, though some difference in having a dedicated ip for your site. it all depends on if the other sites on your ip are shady or not.

I have run a lot of mini-sites (with a lot of PLR content that has been modified) on the same IP without any noticeable problems.

There's no penalty for running 2 websites on one single hosting account. All shared hosts stuff as many domains as they can on one server. Some ethical ones host no more than 50 domains per server. 2 websites on a server? Go for it!

Yeah you need to define shady and bring up an interesting point.
Godaddy and similar ones host thousands. Does godaddy host
porn? If they do, you better stay away from godaddy if you
are worried about being associated with the same IP as a porn
site. But then you'd really have to search hard for a porn-free
host. Nobody needs a dedicated server unless you have traffic
up the wazoo. And by that I mean hundreds of thousands of
page views daily. I did not realize that warrior was on the
same server as 7 others until I checked. So they are probably
semi-dedicated, or just not using the other domains much.

My host has porn, gambling, etc. and I have never had a problem.
I stick with him because I am on a first name basis with him. No
      problems about spam complaints, etc.

Most firewalls filter based on URL.

I can typically connect to parts of digg/yahoo etc. but not all parts when I'm behind a corporate firewall.

Ex - some firewalls will allow you to connect to 'yahoo.com' for search but not 'omg.yahoo.com' (celebrity news gossip).

IP addresses are generally filtered when an attack is originating from them.

If the web host you are with initiates a malicious attack and gets caught you could lose a significant amount of your customer base as firewalls start blocking the IP address to protect their networks.

Shared IP hosting is perfectly acceptable & is actually considered an Internet best practice - the http protocol itself was modified to make shared IP hosting possible when it went to 1.1.

The only time you'll need a dedicated IP is when you do SSL or if you are targeting other countries (then an IP in that country will help).

Having said that - it's about $19 to get a dedicated virtual server so if you really want your own IP it's not that expensive.

You can host as many sites as you can 10 or 1000 whatever, just make sure not to interlink more than 6 sites within your network...this is what most ppl do

Yes rankings will not be affected if you use shared hosting. Only important thing is server location if you want to rank in google.com use USA server etc.
