I've been trying to do this for a while but can't figure it out, any suggestions? I can post it in the content just no where else. and the youtube video's are from older versions of wordpress that seem to be different.

    1. Get the appropriately sized adsense script.
    2. Open you WP dashboard.
    3. Select <Appearance>
    4. Select <Widgets>
    5. Scroll down the list of available widgets until you find one marked "text", pick it up and drag it into the sidebar.
    6. Open the drop down for the "text" widget and past your adsense script into the available space.
    7. As I recall you have to press <save> on the widget to make sure it stays put.

While I was trying to find a site I had loaded the MaxPress plugin for ads you beat me to the answer but you answered so much better than I did anyway

The way I do it is to use a text widget and then paste the appropriate sized code for your sidebar e.g. 160 x 600 or whatever your sidebar can cope with or you might be able to find a plugin that uses a sidebar option. I have a feeling that MaxBlogPress' plugin might allow you to add ads into the sidebar.

I will look it out and get back to you on that one

    Hi,
you have to edit the template. In the appereance menue you'll find the option to edit the template. Then open the sidebar.php and put the code to the right place. It's different from template to template, so you have to try it out.

edit: ok the way the other warriors described seems to be easier

Cool, I will try it, I tried a plugin called "advertising manager" but it does not pick up the keywords on my page to generate relevant ads.
