Building an Adwords Campaign...

I have a view questions that I thought an expert can help me with.

I went and built keywords based on my site, my competitors site, and my sites offerings. I run a website called psdcutups.com.

I broke all of the keywords down into 4 columns:

Keyword, Global Monthly Searches, Competition, and Avg CPC.

Once I collected the data for all of these keywords, I then broke the keywords into relative groupings so similar keywords were together.

Now I am ready to write my ads, but I have a lot of keywords that come back with 5000+ global searches per month but .05 avg CPC. For some reason I dont feel this is accurate, can someone help me look over my research and advise me on the next steps?

    Hi dwatson,

Are you looking at exact match, phrase match or broad match data? If the average CPC is only $0.05 then those keywords may not convert well. This could be due to ambivalent terms or terms without commercial value.

My advice would be to avoid broad match keywords on the Search Network, stick with exact match and phrase match only. Be sure to use negative match keywords for your ad groups that include phrase (or broad) match types.

Additionally, I would recommend that you create separate ad groups for each individual keyword for best results. This will allow you to write ads that are specific to the exact keyword you are targeting.

      Don,

I kinda did that, do you have skype or a way that I can show you my research and you can tell me what you think...I am going to be up late tonight working on the campaign and am looking for a nudge in the right direction.

Sometimes Google gives inaccurate information, mainly if you are using Traffic Estimator. 5c/click for search is incredibly low and chances are that the estimative is not correct. I suggest you to make some research, see how many people are bidding on your keywords. It will help you determine how accurate the estimative is.

Anyway, the best you can do is start your campaign and see what happens.

I would completely agree with with WilliamRS. I have found that the data provided by Google can be inaccurate. This is probably due to the many different factors that go into providing the data such as geographical locations, Quality Score's, CTR's etc. Its really only meant as a guide.

As previously mentioned, have a go and see what happens. You never know you might find a niche keyword that generates lots of traffic.

      Good luck....
