I want to enter sex related niches but don't know whether they're not forbidden

Hi guys,

I though I will ask about your opinion before starting any SEO campaigns in the niches I wanted to enter. They are all related to sex and I know Google is strict on this subject so just wanted to ask for your experiences and opinions.

Do you think I should be ok trying to rank in subjects like:

a) love making tips
b) fellatio and oral sex advice
c) curing premature ejaculation

etc.

Thanks!

Pawel

    Hi,

Google doesn't really frown on adult themed sites. You can rank them with good SEO like you can other sites.

that being said, there are restrictions on the types of ads you can put on your site (for instance, I believe adsense is a no-no), and I wouldn't interlink your adult sites from any non-adult sites that you own.

    Hi,

I have an adult e-commerce site and sometimes it is quite a pain to promote it. It's a bit more difficult because all the standard IM channels are going to be more limited/restrictive. Many of the web 2.0 properties are pretty strict on sex related content as are a lot of the article directories.

For some reason anything sex related is regarded with disgust even though none of us would be here without it...

I still use article marketing, web 2.0 properties, profile linking but you have to tread carefully...for example, don't be too descriptive or use slang or offensive terminology. You almost have to create "clinical" or "sanitized" content for it to not get removed...

You may also find that a lot of the article writing services won't help you because they're terms of service prohibit adult of "sexual" material.

To be honest, that's a huge opportunity for someone to come up with an article service that will write that kind of material.

    Anyway,

    Good luck

I think that "Good SEO" isn't enough in this niche. I mean the adult industry
has some great webmaster and they also have some crazy a** blkhatters
that use all those nasty SEO tactics.

It is going to be a pain to rank for those keywords. Maybe you can find
some with low competition. This post isn't intented to discourage you. I
just wanted to say how things are in that niche

I wish you all the best.

According to who? Forget all of what you may have heard. Google doesn't have any problems with adult related content.

    a) love making tips
    b) fellatio and oral sex advice
    c) curing premature ejaculation
Competitive niches but nothing wrong with them.

To be honest, that's a huge opportunity for someone to come up with an article service that will write that kind of material.
Plenty of people in the adult webmaster world who can help out with this stuff. Many of them lurking around here as well. They just don't advertise that they are running WSO's and bukkake websites. I'm not joking... some big names are playing on both sides of the fence.

Don't know why everybody thinks that black-hat is so big with adult webmasters. The big money is NOT in adult... it's in mainstream. Black-hat webmasters are not going to waste their time tying to get 50k hits a day just to make $1,000 when you can make $10k on the same amount traffic in a mainstream niche. #1 for weight loss or #1 for naked girls... the answer is easy, weight loss.

      Reality perhaps?

The big money is NOT in adult... it's in mainstream.
And yet, plenty of people enter the adult market every day. Go figure. Big money in commodity trading too, yet plenty of people run ice cream shops instead.

Then, according to your logic, there would be no porn, and no one would be wasting time in the porn market, black or white hat, because all the money is in weight loss.

There are plenty of black hatters in porn...plenty in weight loss too. It's not an either or issue.

Not saying there aren't but every time anybody brings up adult you're going to get some idiot popping off about it's all black-hat and blah blah blah when most of the people making those comments have no idea what they are talking about.

It's just because as a general rule the porn market is very competitive in regards to SEO and anyone ranking for very competitive keywords uses black hat techniques so it's not difficult to see why it's often said.

I was thinking the same - go to an adult webmasterboard and learn that they have ratios from 1:50.000

to answer the question from Pawel - I have no clue but I would choose a niche that could not be downloaded....

The problem with adult is all the rip off who download the content and then through it up across the web. In last 2 year conversions are way down. About the only way is to micro niche and control your content.
Tube sites have really ruined the biz

Thanks for your response guys. From what you've written here it seems like it's worth entering the sex related niche. There are plenty of products to promote (enlarging penis, premature ejaculation, love making tips, oral sex tips etc.) and they're a bit different from what I understand as pure porn.

I did a bit of keyword research in these niches and there are plenty of ezine articles being returned in the top 10 for some major keyphrases. I have not encountered any porn websites but this may be due to the keywords I chose.

Like dswift33 wrote I guess one needs to use almost "clinical" versions of the popular terms to avoid being mistaken as another porn website.

      Cheers,

      Pawel
