Should I create this niche site?

Hi

I wonder if I should create this niche site. I've found a long tail keyword which has pretty high exact search. 27000 exact search and only 9000 competing pages.

The keyword is very specific so I it's hard to find another related keyword. So I'm not sure I can create about 8 content pages on the site so I get some natural internal link building.

I thought about first to choose a domain, with a not so narrow keyword in domain. then from this default page I can have link to other pages. These other pages have again links back to the default page.

Example:
www.cheapcars.com
www.cheapcars.com/volvo-v70.htm
www.cheapcars.com/toyota-camry.htm

The keyword in the domain has over 1.600.000 competing pages. So it's hard to get to the first page in Google with that page. Instead I'm hoping to get on the first page with my pages with long tail keyword.

(sorry if I sounds like a newbie, it's that I want to check if my idea is doable before I start buying domains and stuff)

Sounds doable?

    Hi

The a keyword with 27000 searches and 9000 competing pages sounds like a good keyword to be building a niche site on. Do you know what the strenght of competition for that keyword is? if not maybe look at buying a tool micro niche finder. its the only keyword tool I use for my research.

I always choose domain names which contain my keywords. so if the exact keyword is not available in as domain name add some action words like, get, buy, site, online etc...

Bottom line is here if you want to be successfull on the internet you need to take alot of action, so dont think about it too much test the market and see if it works.

actullay keywords have a big effect on search first of all you sould seek for the domain name with a megical kewords that directs your producd for example if you have a site for webhosting your domain should be effective eg, bestwebhosting.com, shopaserver.com and so on and success is for hardworkers not for thinkers.

I have a 3 month old 1 page niche site that made me almost $75 last month. It has only 1000 exact matches.

I have another 1 similar 1 page niche site that made me $25 last month. Haven't touched that one in 2 years.

Both sit on the 1st page of Google.

Sometimes a niche will be so focused that it will be hard to write more than 1 page of content, especially if you are not all that familiar with the niche.

With 27,000 searches you should put up 1 page and see what happens. Set up an optimized Wordpress blog and put 500 words of content on it. Use the keyword phrase in the domain and frequently throughout the content.Your only risk will be 7-10 bucks for the domain.

I did just that in February. Wasn't sure if I should build the site, found a Godaddy coupon to buy a .net domain for $4.99 and put it up.

Last Saturday someone clicked thru one of my EPN links from that site and went on a $5000+ eBay shopping spree buying a bunch of gold and silver coins and unmounted gemstones. That has made me over $200 in the past 6 days. It pushed my earnings per click to $2.00 a click.

If I had played it safe I would not have got that click.

This should be all about taking small, manageable, calculated risks that show a average to better than average chance of success.

Do not necessarily believe you have to have 5-10 pages of content to get ranked. I have more than 1 1 page site that has been on Google's first page for 2 years or more without any new work being put into them.

If your content is good Google should not punish you. If you put up a 500 page garbage site it may not do well while my quality 1 page sites stay ranked.

I would buy the exact keyword match .net, .org or .com, put up 1 page, get it ranked, and then monetize it. With 27,000 exact match searches it would be hard not to make your domain investment back if you get it ranked on page 1.

It does not take a lot to get ahead if all you have at risk is 10 bucks or less. You can get godaddy promo coupons to get .com, .net, and .org domains for $7.50 all day long.

If this is me it is a no brainer.

      Best Regards,

      Andy

Thanks for your inspiring notes. Today I've registered the domain, wordpress and a SEO optimized theme. Monday I will ask someone on Freelancer.com to write the content for me. Site is almost done, just need content etc. It should be up and running within a week. In the meanwhile I'm setting up another niche site

        i agree with DREW3806

what do you have to lose...$10 the most. you might have found a diamond and let it go. i think you might have a winner and if it's not a winner from the beginning you can work on it and make it a winner with that amount of traffic.

        keep us updated..

        good luck

The problem with your question is you haven't given any indication of how much effort you want to put into the site and ranking for that keyword.

Do you really want it and are you willing to put in the work? Then it doesn't matter what the keyword is or the amount of competition.

If you're looking for an easy to rank keyword that doesn't require much work, that is a different story.

I like keywords with lots of traffic while others like keywords with no competition. Which one are you?

I like keywords with lots of traffic and little or no competiton. I can spend 6 months creating backlinks for the site if that is needed.

While I'm sure they are out there, you're kinda wanting the best of both worlds. That is what we all want.

    Now, back to reality.

27,000 exact search: not bad, this keyword might have a pulse.

9,000 competing pages: doesn't really tell me much. Doesn't matter if it's 10 or 10 billion competing pages. All that matters is who is on the first page.

Never rely on Results 1 - 10 of about 386,000,000 for keyword to gauge the amount of competition. Also don't use Results 1 - 10 of about 392,000,000 for "keyword" either.

To emphasize my point, 1 - 10 of about 251,000 for monkey poop. I don't think 251,000 pages are really competing for the phrase monkey poop. But it sounds really cool when you say you are #1 for a keyword with 251,000 competing sites.

It's not telling you much more than how many pages in the google mainframe have keyword on the page. You need to research the top 10 - 15 sites and see if they have their SEO act together.

Anyway, you need to do some deeper research on your true competition. But hey, at least I got to type monkey poop in a forum thread today, so it's all good.

Now lets see if this thread ranks in the google top 10 for monkey poop. Don't lie, you know you checked
