How Many Backlinks To Acheive A Page Rank 4?

I hear it is around 10,000 and it depends on the quality of the websites you link to. Anyone here acheived a page rank 4? And if so how many backilinks did it take?

I am working on my blog receiving that Google ranking on the next page rank update. What am I shooting for? I know no one knows for sure but a ball park figure from some SEO guys would be appreciated!

I think just like you mentioned there is no standard number. In my short time of doing this I have seen blogs with very few backlinks out rank blogs with thousands of backlinks. I think one should take other things into consideration like quality content and other SEO points as well. After all with SEO nothing is for sure. Any way I wish you goo luck and I hope you do get a PR 4 or even higher than that.

I believe the number can be as low as 10 maybe lower...I have a site that achieved a PR3 and I never did anything but bookmark it with 3 or 4 of the top sites like Digg,Reditt etc..

It is more about quality than quantity. A little trick for you...Find sites that have PR4 rankings then go to Alexa and look at their backlinks...You will notice a pattern (hint).

      How extraordinary.

Got any theory on why that is so?

Have you been able to duplicate that result?

Part of the reason is that the public side of Google backlinks check does not show all of what is actually there. You have to go inside Google Webmaster Tools to get to the truth of the story.

I am sure you have heard many people say what I am getting ready to say, so I don't expect anyone to find this to be earth-shattering news... ;-)

I used to do a lot of back link analysis on other websites, according to how websites ranked in Google.

What I have seen in hundreds of checks is that the page with the top Google PageRank is not at the top of the list, and equally so, the pages with the most back links are often also not at the top of the list.

I recall one particular search that stood out in my mind.

It was for a keyword that was extremely competitive, but please don't ask for an example, as my research was done in the summer of 2006...

The top ranked result had a PR2 and as I recall about 1100 inbound links. The #2 result was PR8 with 300 back links. And the #3 was a PR6 with 15,000 back links...

In the end, I believe that this makes a case for two factors outweighing all others:

        1. The quality of the links were higher, and
        2. The relevancy of the page to the search word was higher.

I too have a PR 3 blog with 0 backlinks but have 5,000+ unique pages (not auto generated). Traffic too is pouring from Google. It's a very new site only 4 months old. I hope it will be 4 - 5 on next update because I've already started the backlink campaigns.

I second on the "quality over quantity" that'll boost up your backlinks to achieve higher rankings as well. Alternatively, use Market Samurai to peek on your competitor's backlinks and see how will you dominate their networks.

Trace for top 5 of your competitors and analyze the data. See the average the number of backlinks and that's the amount of backlinks you will need to be on the front page of Google.

Its very simple, get couple of PR7+ link and you will get pr4. I had done this multiple times.

There is no written rule to get a PR 4. I have a PR 4 with around 1000 backlinks - It surely is quality over quantity. Reduce the number of OBL and enhance one way link building.

    Hi guys

i have about 1500 for the term make money online which is a high ranking keyword and hard to rank for. My site homepage is a page rank of three and i am result 15 (page 2 on google).

I wouldn't put all your attention on the page rank instead concentrate on where you are positioned on Google as this is what counts.

    kind regards

I am in the building backlinks service biz
and to my understanding, it matter on the PR juice your getting

ex. you have a pr 5 site and it has 10 do follow outbound links
that 1/10 pr 5 juice each link is getting

so you would have to get 9 more equal( 1/10 pr 5 juice) value links to your site to get
    a pr 5

    hope that helps

    sado

    ps
    if you need higher rankings

There is no set number of backlinks you need to get
    a PR 4.

To get a high PR you need...

    • Backlinks from pages that have PR and are do follow. So they can pass their link juice.
    • Age. Many websites get a PR 5+ with only a couple of backlinks because they've been registered for years.
    • Internal linking structure of your own site. Make sure that each page on your site links to the homepage. So that when those pages get PR they'll pass some on to the home page.
    • Make sure that all OBL on the page you want to get to a PR4 are No Follow. Other wise you'll be passing on your hard earned PR to the next site.
And that's pretty much how you get a high PR. There's nothing you
can do about the "Age" bit, apart from be patient.

So yeah there's no set number. Think of it this way.. If you
    got 1 do follow backlink from a page that's PR10 you'd
probably get your PR 4 or higher instantly. Or you could get
a million spammy backlinks and not even get a PR 3.

It's all about quality not quantity as the saying goes.

There's no definite number for this. Its better that you just concentrate on building good quality backlinks from relevant and high PR sources. If you are targeting PR 4 then you should try to get backlinks from sites that are PR 4 or above only.

As others have said, I've found it is the quality of the linking site and their rank, rather than the number of links.

I have seen sites with less than four thousand link on PR4 and sites with over eighteen thousand on PR3. It boils down to quality and not quantity.

      Hi entrepreneurjay,

PageRank is a score that represents the relative number of direct and indirect inbound links using a logarithmic scale of 0 to 10. So yes, it represents the number of links to your page, but it also includes indirect links. So, you must take into account the number of links to the pages that link to yours.

Some inbound links will have many indirect links while others may have few, or even no indirect links, and have little or no PR value. You can't simply count the number of direct links to determine how many are needed to reach PR 4. The real answer is that a single link can boost your PR to a 4 while you could also have 100,000 links and still be nowhere near a PR 4.

There are other factors that influence your page's PR score including dilution by other outbound links where your inbound links are placed and decay factors. You need to take into consideration all of these variables to predict PR scores.

I feel like I know less about backlinks and PR the more I read about it.

What I am getting from all this is that there is a loose correlation, not a tight/high one. There's no surefire formula to get there. It's not just science but art.

No one can tell the exact amount but the fact is try getting links from sites which have more than 4 pr and make sure not more than 30 links are there on your backlink page-that would work for you.

If you get 2 or 4 pr5 links and about 50 pr3 links you can get a 4. This is only what happened once, most of my sites are pr3.
