Hey Guys,

I would like your thoughts on managed PPC accounts.

For those that don't know what I'm talking about, simply, for a fee Person X will setup, research, and run PPC ads for your business.

I would love to know your views on the pros and cons.

    Hi,

My main thought would be that whilst PPC gets you traffic, it's biggest benefit to you as a business is that you learn what people are searching for.

Say you have 10,000 impressions in a month, and get a 1% CTR and therefore pay for 100 clicks. That means that you had 100 visitors, but that 9,900 people completely missed your site. Wouldn't it be nice to know what keywords triggered the Ads that were displayed for these 9,900 searches?

If you're going to outsource your PPC campaign management, make sure that you get regular reports, or at least access to the reports so that you can see what people have been searching for.

Like all outsourcing... there will be some who are good value and some that aren't.

    I hope that helps.
    Andy

It's a massive chunk of my personal business revenue model at present. I've been doing it on an agency basis for several years to a fairly decent degree of success.

I package the entire deal as a "lead generation" system and sell to services companies because they typically have a higher cost of customer acquisition budget than most other kinds of business.

The setup is a flat rate charge.

Then I place regular buys and manage campaigns based on their desired thresholds on a continuous basis. I charge an agency fee based on a fixed percentage of the campaign dollar budget amount.
