Never been happier about not having a Page 1 listing

Ok, despite having 16 years of experience with this stuff, I still do stupid things sometimes. It made me laugh, so I thought I'd share.

Right now I'm going after a KWP with about 6 million results for one of my sites.

This week I saw the site pop up at #5. I was like "wow, that's fast." However, I noticed my traffic, lists and AdSense didn't correspond with the new ranking.

Knowing there's some 4,000 searches daily for this KWP it made no sense.

So, I've been spending all week getting mad trying to figure out what was going on.

And it just hit me . . .

I just now got around to running Market Samurai's rank checker and it showed me NOT on page 1. I then looked on the top of my browser and just started laughing. I was logged into Google, so my listings were altered.

I clicked the logout link and boom, my site is gone.

I've never been more happier to not have a page 1 listing in all my life. I couldn't imagine how I made such a misjudgment in traffic & profit potential. It's all good, just a dumb mistake.

Whoops.

    Yea, I don't like that either. I would love to have a default setting where my searches are automatically NOT altered.
