Hi all,

Newbie here, I'm enjoying all of the content so far as was hoping to get some help wth something.

I've set up a blog for a site and am starting to post articles. If the article is called "internet marketing" then the url in the browser currently appears as:

mysite.c0m/blog/internet-marketing

Basically I want to be able to remove the "blog" part from the URL to help improve SEO. Does anyone know how I can make the url for the same article appear as:

mysite.c0m/internet-marketing

Thanks for your help guys!

Rewriting URL depends on the type of platform on which your site is hosted. For example, if you are on Apache you can use mor-rewite; on IIS you can use this software:
    binaryfortress.com/wordpress-url-rewrite/
    There are other plugins:
    wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks
    whypad.com/posts/wordpress-plugin-url-rewrite/194/
    and others.

If you are insufficiently technical you may wish to hire a pro to help you with this issue.

Whatever you do, remember to always redirect old URLs to new ones using 301-redirects (never simply remove them). If your blog is old, I would not replace the links to the old urls (this will reset their link age to 0, and you don't want that), but after you start working with new URLs, you should use the new linking convention for new links).
