Higher Conversion With Content Network?

I'm running an AdWords campaign to promote one of my own products and I'm getting a higher conversion (opt in) from the content network than I am with search. Like 33% to 17%.

Anybody else experience this?

How come everybody rips on the content network?

    Is your niche Real Estate investing? Could be a factor?

      I am targeting specific sites, my niche is real estate investing and I am using the same ads.

      Maybe the secret is in targeting only certain sites or choosing your own placements in the content network?

        Targetting certain sites

        Although, it does depend on what your objective is. But for selling purposes, I would go for targeted sites...building a mailing list fast, then perhaps I'd want the run of the content network.
