Google Adwords is outdated in my opinion.

Most of the people clicking on your ads are not targeted audiences either. They are typically competing webmasters that are checking out to see what you are promoting.

I'd suggest going for the organic rankings via search engine optimization on your site and massive amounts of backlink.

Tip: Target low-medium competition keywords (under 100,000 in quotes) AND make sure you have the keywords exactly in your domain name with either a .com / .net / or a .org.

    Example:

    WeightLoss.com / or WeightLoss.net / or WeightLoss.org

If you DON'T have the exact keywords in your domain name, then you need about 75% more backlinks to rank high in the search engines.

If you want, you can PM me your keywords, ads and landing pages and I will offer suggestions.

Typically if you are getting a lot of clicks and no sales, you are either using too generic a keyword or your keywords do not match the information on your landing page.

i have also found that if you adjust your bids so you ads are in position #4 to #6 you will get better targeted visitors. The top #3 positions get more clicks but not as many coversions for the costs.

Adwords is super tough for affiliates, I don't know which vertical you've chosen but its likely that you've got super tight margins and competing against the merchants themselves who've, obviously got much larger margins.
Even the longtail low volume KWs are just too expensive for affiliates.

You stand a slightly better chance with Yahoo as the Kws are cheaper and often merchants neglect Yahoo, focusing on the 85% of traffic from Google. The problem with Yahoo though is that the software is lousy which makes it difficult to make informed decisions.

Either way I suggest visiting PPC Hero and reading every post of the last 2 years if you're serious about being a PPC affiliates.
