Hi,

Having a strange issue with Traffic Travis. I'm using this from the UK, and have the search set on US. The top ten display is supposed to be identical to google. but its not, its slightly different.

This is sometimes solved by adding the &gl=us in google address bar, which then sets the ads to US rather than uk. But other times it just gives another different result.

I using google by the address google.com/ncr

Anyone else come across this?

Thanks

James

Many people think of Google search results as uniform and monolithic, but they are not! What you are seeing happens because through Traffic Travis you access Google data from a different Google datacenter than the one you hit directly. Indeed, results in Google.com are often markedly when viewed in different regions, whether within the US or internationally. (This is a phenomenon SEOs often have to explain patiently to their long-distance clients!) In fact, if you watch the results closely across different datacenters, which you can do with this tool, you will find that they tend to consolidate and then diverge, and then again consolidate and diverge, a whole nother dimension to Google dance. This has something to do with the processed of Web crawling and the updating of the Google servers and the merging of data across the datacenters (the so-called fata push), which happen periodically.
