Hi,

I've been doing some SEO for a client and all of a sudden, there site isn't even coming up for their name. I'm hoping I didn't do something wrong. Is there a way to check and see how google is liking your site and whether or not they've blacklisted it?

Thanks!

actually i just checked that on another site of mine i know is showing up and it said that one was banned too, so i don't think it's too accurate. maybe it's just a method to get people to sign up for their services.

      any other recommendations?

RebeccaLynn, go back to Google Black List Checker and type in:

        hoop://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en

Make sure you replace the oo with tt

And tell me what you see they say about Google.

Just checked a random sampling of some of my domains and a couple of clients. they all passed. So it does appear to work from a passing side.

OMG!!! I just checked a site that I spent a LOT of money on and haven't even SEOed yet and it "does appear to blacklisted".

Crap crap crap... Are you sure this is a reliable source for determining blacklisting. Possibly it is just not in the top 100???

I checked it on a site that I have SEOed and is #2 on google for several keywords and it came back "does not appear to be blacklisted".

      Now I am freeking.

I'm wondering what happened that got it blacklisted. If I did any SEO, it must have been a long long time ago.

  • it says my domain does appear to be banned. why would that be? i have only been adding content to squidoo... this is so strange!

The quickest most accurate way to see if you have been de-indexed is to Google:

    site:yourdomain.com

    Don't put ANT spaces anywhere.

If you see your site, you are not de-indexed.

    If you see this...

Your search - site:yourdomaecefsqwdin.com - did not match any documents.
    Suggestions:
    • Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
    • Try different keywords.
    • Try more general keywords.
    ...you are de-indexed.

Doing that, I came up #1. duhh So, if I'm indexed, I couldn't be blacklisted. I feel better.

Ok. I just checked my personal blog and it said "does appear to be banned". I have definately never done anything wrong or ever attempted to SEO this site as it is personal and for friends and people who know me and would actually give a crap what I think about a book I just read, etc.

So.... I don't think this is an full proof method of determining official blacklisting, but is probably a good indicator of how poorly a site is SEOed??? maybe??? I hope???

Personally, I would put that site in the "Do Not Use" category. It's a poorly written script. In addition, in SEO 101, one of the first things you learn is to go to: Site:yourdomain.com to check your site.

Well, it really sounds suspect, but I think they are going by NA, which is not the same thing, but close,

A better term would be sandboxed... a nasty process, engaged in by (allegedly) oggle, just put the g in front, would not want to get black listed...

So then, how do I know if the site has been "sandboxed"

Rebecca, the best thing to do is to be more descriptive in terms of what you mean when you say, "site isn't even coming up for their name."

        What problem are you experiencing?

Now that you've checked, is the site being indexed by Google?

What is the age of the site?

Have you recently switched hosts, registrars, etc.?

Do you have any duplicate content URL issues such as the site appearing in Google as :

        hoop://mydomainishot.com
        hoop://www.mydomainishot.com
        hoop://mydomainishot.com/index.html
        hoop://mydomainishot.com/index.php
        hoop://www.mydomainishot.com/index.html

Provide a little more information because actually, it may be nothing at all. You just may have just morphed into a worry wart for nothing...
