I have a squidoo lens that was ranked well about a few weeks ago. Then suddenly my lens fell out of google. I mean completely out. So I started doing more backlinks, add to RSS feeds, optimized it and still nothing. I have almost 200 inlinks going to it and now my lens isn't even indexed in google anymore. I have no problems with my other lenses, just this one. Help!!! What can I do?

You may well have overdone the backlinking and it will come back after a while, this happens.

Also new pages/sites sometimes get a bit of a boost when they are new and then fall back to where they should be.

Although saying that about the backlinks Squiddo has millions of links so im not sure if that would have the same effect as if it were a new site?

How many links have you built?

Yeah, sounds like you may have overdone or maybe you've just got some very dodgy links pointing to the page.

200 links is quite a few. Was it a competitive term?

200 links is a lot to get .... per minute.

Theres 47 things or more that could have caused this.

That is a bad thing, don't ever do that many links for anything. It is very noticeable and google will spot it.

        Thanks

Squidoo has been doing some very weird things lately. I've published about 5 lenses in the past week.

Of all of them, 3 of them were indexed in 10 hours. The other 2 are still yet to be indexed after multiple social bookmarking a few hits from 4 different ping.fm accounts and waiting 5 days.

THere's not much you can do about it. I doubt the backlinks had any affect. Squidoo has plenty of trust with Google so I doub't any amount of backlinks quickly would affect that.

Google has also been doing weird things with the index lately. There's nothing much that you can do besides wait it out.

Let me start building lots of backlinks for my competitors so they will all get buried!

The backlinks happened over time. I have 200 backlinks from over a month of creating my lens. The backlinks wasn't created over a day. I have a blog that is well-ranked with a PR3 so that was linked to the lens, but also from EA and other articles submission (just a few though) and of course other sites picking up the articles. So that's where the links came from.

Just to update...it did get re-ranked in Google but at #54

I don't know what else to do. I've done everything I could possibly think of.

You are mistaking backlinks for SERPS and indexing.
      They are not necessarily related.
Your squidoo lens must be some unique, valuable
experience for a visitor. If not, it will sink as far
as google is concerned. At least my opinion.

Funny thing with squidoo. One of my lenses is #1 on yahoo
and not even indexed on google. I will be the first to
admit that it is a traffic funneler and built that way.
Not much useful content. But it is getting 1,000
      visitors a week from yahoo.

      Hi mnlewis,

That sounds like the stereotypical experience one would see from the Freshness Factor (QDF). Your lens ranked well for a brief period of time, due to the temporary boost from QDF, and then it sinks to it's currently deserved ranking position after the freshness factor wears off. There doesn't seem to be anything unusual in your experience.

This is so common that I feel comfortable predicting that within a week we will see yet another thread started by yet another webmaster perplexed by the sudden drop in rankings when the freshness factor wears off. It is one of the most reliable and predictable ranking patterns in the SEO business.
