Very Confused In The Advertising Part

    What do you want visitors to do? Do you want them to opt in to get something or do you want them to come and join your forum? It will be easier to figure out how to promote it once you know exactly what you want visitors to do once they get there.

    Do you have content in addition to your forum and squeeze page? That's where you really want to focus your optimization efforts. You talk about maybe submitting articles - have you already put that content on your website? If not, that's where to start.

    Do your keyword research, if you haven't already, and write some keyword-rich articles. Put them up on your site and then optimize those pages. Be sure to put an optin form on each of those pages.

    Then do some backlinking: article directories, social bookmarking, rss feeds, whatever you can do to get some backlinks.

    That's just some general ideas to get you started. Be more specific about what you want people to do and you'll probably get some more specific strategies.

    Yes you first need to decide what your marketing strategy will be or at least what will be the main strategy. If you want traffic from Search Engines you should concetrate and learn a bit more on how to do SEO how to do Link Building, how to optimise your website. Maybe add some relevant content with keywords. You can always add a blog in a subfolder write a few good articles and than submit them to social sites, comment on relevant forums and put your link in a signature. If you decide on SEO strategy learn all the Link Building methods you can do. Don't try to learn them all in one day but if you cover few basic strategies (dirs, blog coments, article marketing) you are already on a good path. If you want to do article marketing for grabbing visitors from article directories than you have to understand you'll need A LOT of good articles with interesting titles, resource boxes etc.

    See what you can do good and than specialize in that, don't try to do every marketing method there is.
