Cheap $0.01 clicks from content network using banner ads

There is a recent surge regarding this method again, and i wont go into detail.

But if you are wondering why you are actually not getting impressions, even with HIGHER bids than $0.01 - i just found something interesting!

Google seems to have limited/disabled certain niches.

"Due to multiple complaints from our users and publishers, we've limited the appearance of certain categories of ads on our content network, which may have affected your number of impressions. This includes (but is not limited to) low-quality affiliate advertisements and other business models that we have received multiple complaints about"
In other words: Your "cheap clicks" ads simply wont work in certain niches. I know for sure that weight loss doesnt work, there is no way to get clicks for $0.01 in that niche. PROBABLY also applies to many other niches.

Was that all they said, or did they list the niches?

The first product I got on the one cent clicks showed us how he got one penny clicks to the weight lost niche. that was in December though.

I got this from another forum where someone got this mail from a Google CSR, after his inquiry why he didnt have any impression.

But it makes sense knowing their current stance against Affiliates.

I am testing this right now w/ other niches. No, no list of niches...but i can guess which ones.

      George,

Good to see that you are sharing some valuable information once again.

Although I can still get penny clicks on the Content Network, its a waste of time to focus on them.

If you are advertising on websites with $0.01 clicks, the quality of the clicks are terrible.

Match that with a crappy landing page and you will just end up getting frustrated.

What I have found over time is to focus on high quality sites and making sure you have a high conversion rate on your landing page.

You can get all the traffic you want as cheap as you can find it, but if you can't convert the traffic then you are just wasting time and money.

Google is also using something called Smart Pricing to price out those low quality sites on their network.

Smart Pricing can also affect your number of impressions. Basically, Smart Pricing uses an algorithm that determines how well a click performs from one site compared to another site.

So if you are not bidding high enough to land on higher quality sites and you also have ads that are not converting, then your impressions are going to be limited.

Not only does Google dislike low quality sites, they also dislike low quality advertisers. Since most people don't really understand how to use Adwords effectively, Google groups them into the low quality advertiser category and thus limits your reach.

For more on smart pricing, check out Problogger: Adsense Smart Pricing Explained

This article is about 5 years old and it talks about Smart Pricing from an Adsense Publisher point of view, but you should read it and then think in terms of how that could affect you as an advertiser.

Over time, Google has really stepped up their game on the Content Network and there are many other reasons why people may not be getting impressions for their ads.

    This is some interesting information.

The point is, for the average "affiliate" who does NOT sell a product in the thousands there is a logical, mathematical & statistical limit in how high a BID still makes sense (is potentially profitable).

I just posted something yesterday about that one super-affiliate of a very known clickbank product who makes a killing with cheap clicks at an (rather bad) conversion rate of 1:450 hops/sale. (He is probably using PPV or media buys)

It is clear that content network is not that targeted, so i can see conversion rates 1:200 - 1:400 actually be a possibility.

Now, the interesting thing is that this does work with super cheap clicks, but just $0.05 or $0.06++ would already make this a loss in the making.

So...my ads are sitting there in various niches and am testing with a max. bid of $0.06 on content - until now i didn't have one single impression.

The problem would solve itself since there are only two options:

    a) i never get an impression. Then i pause my ads again as i did for the last year and laugh at google.

    b) The few adds which are still pending review would (against any expectations) start impressions.

INCREASING BIDS is not an option due to above observations about conversion rates/traffic quality etc. since it would ultimately only be a loss.

I can do this selling some high price items, but not some $30 weight loss clickbank product
