When you're building links to your website, do you find blogs in your related niche, or does any high page ranked dofollow blog count?

Related niche is better as the link will be more juicer and the chances of the blog's visitors visiting your site is a lot higher as it's related to what they are reading.

I wouldn't agree with you Daedric completely. If you type "tea" in Google, the second result is Texas Education Agency (TEA) - I doubt that links with an anchor text TEA pointing to this education agency have got any to do with tea as a drink.

This is one of a lot of evidence which proves that Google still doesn't have a sufficient mechanism to sort out relevancy and it clearly means that the link juice is the same no matter what site does it come from.

However, I have to agree that it is higher chance you will get visitors coming from blogs where you comment if those blogs are in the same niche as your website/blog, because it's just common sense.

The effect of enough high pr overcomes any downside of relevance, however, as stated in the posts before relevancy can bring customers - so its always good to go for relevant, there are usually enough high pr opps out there - plus make some videos (article to video) with your target keywords in Youtube and other video sharing sites, articles to doc sharing and articles sites will also give you relevant, and targeted links - don't forget Squidoo, Social Bookmarking
