Hi guys i have a website which doesnt have much text on it apart from a small description and a title for each page.

Is it possible to make h1 and h2 tags for each page but make them invisible ? I am new to seo and understand these to be header tags and sub header tags.

Is there any penalty with the big g if i were to make them invisible ? Also if i were to make the h1 tag the same as my description and the h2 the same as the title for each page would big g take this as me spaming them ?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Chris

I believe invisible text is specifically against G guidelines, but don't quote me on that.

Why not just have a h1 tag with the keyword for the page, and h2 with a little more information. Why would you want to make it invisible?

Making invisible text will definitely get you banned, and from what I've heard, it is relatively easy for G to detect. I understand why you would want to do this, but if the page is relevant, then why not just add the tags. I have also used images in the h1 tags optimized with titles and this has worked, although not as well as text.

      False.

Haven't you seen TV and movie sites with hidden spoiler text?

Have you ever visited Experts Exchange and noticed that they have hidden text that you technically have to register to see although it's visible in the Google cache of the page?

There are plenty of legitimate, non-SEO, reasons why a web designer would have hidden text on a page. It would devalue their search results if they penalized sites that used it on that basis alone.

Have you looked at the #1 result of the quality guidelines?

        Quality guidelines - specific guidelines

» Avoid hidden text or hidden links.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! I was referring to when people disguise text to camouflage with the background using CSS, but that is interesting how they did that nonetheless.

About these h tags, would it piss big g off i were to put my full description of each page in them ? Usually about 50-100 words or so ? or will i just put a few words in the h2 tags ?
