Social bookmarking. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
I am trying to use social bookmarking to boost my ranking, using lists such as addtosocial or socialmarker. The problem is that I don't know how to get a "do follow" link.

Most of what I've read suggests that I should just add the link, forget about it and wait a bit for it to take effect. Then go to the next site... lather, rinse, repeat.

The thing I've found out with most of the sites is that my links are by default NO FOLLOW. However submitted stories/articles which have recently been, let's say "upped" a certain number of times are DO FOLLOW.

Should I take the top 30 sites, make a couple accounts per day for each one using a proxy and different e-mail accounts to just click the "up" button? Otherwise, the links will most likely remain no follow (NO-FOLLOW=USELESS).

Why don't you try onlywire to do all your bookmarks with one click. You can pay $2 a month i think it is or you can put their link on one or your own sites and that way you can get in for free.

The problem is not actually in submitting the links. If you submit your link and most importantly LOG OUT, you will see that it is NO FOLLOW. This is the case with most of the bookmarking sites. They make the link DO FOLLOW only after a certain amount of people have "upped" the link (dugg, propped or whatever the sites choose to call it).

There are dofollow social bookmarking sites. To find them you must search. You can search in google.

There is no guarantee that links from even dofollow socia bookmarking sites have any seo value. They are good for indexing.

I think you have answered your own question.
Stop social bookmarking. There are only a handful
that are worth a snot. Not where I would spend
        my time, effort, or worry.

I agree with paulgl, do something like article marketing which has a much higher ROI.

Social Bookmarking is spider food - to get your pages indexed. Do not rely on them to build backlinks! your efforts will be much better spent by doing article marketing(and then bookmark these articles once to get them indexed).
