Hello Warriors. My name is Mark, I have been looking in on this great community for a few months now and the advice people are giving is amazing to say the least. What a great bunch of guys and gals you all are.

I wonder if anyone could explain to me what is going on with my site, I think I know what the problem is but to hear it from people with so much experience would be really helpful.

I have a small website, I'm using WordPress. It has three static pages one is a privacy policy as well as a disclaimer page and homepage. The home page is not titled "homepage" its title has my main keyword in there.

My domain is 100% keyword rich with a .org . Now with just these three static pages and two posts the site was sitting on page2 of Google at the top for about two weeks after spending two months on page 30.

I then put a few more relevant posts up and these were unique posts 100% by me, the site stayed put. So then I started doing some link building, nothing fancy just a few comments here and there, not spammy comments. Did two EZA's and a few website directories, yes I know the website directs are not a great way of getting backlinks but it is a little variety. Also I got up a few forum profiles with publicly viewable links.

In total I think I did 45 backlinks over a period of two weeks so nothing massive going on.

I did these in batches of five or six and the urls where I left the links I collected and made a rss feed and pinged this rss feed.

Then all of a sudden the site went crazy, page 50 odd, pages 30, 10, 27, and so on. It did this for one week and has now settled at page ten! Not a happy bunny!

Today I did the site:mysite.com thing and all is there, so I thought I would take a look at the cached data for all pages and posts. This was my findings. All posts are cached great, but not all pages are, well only one is not and that is my main key-worded homepage?

Now when I did all the backlinks I did something I think was so stupid and that was the url I was back linking to was?.... MY HOME PAGE !! what a D... Head !!

My question to you guys and gals is, do you think this is the problem?

Do you have a Google webmaster account set up. Do you have an XML sitemap or a HTML sitemap. Now that you have 50 pages in the website it could be Google is caching the page that has more visitors landing up on. I suggest you create an XML sitemap & an RSS feed and submit to Google via webmasters. Your home page will be cached more often.

Sorry Terryfunk i messed up my wording there. What I meant by page 50 and so on was, thats the page number in the SERPS that my homepage was showing up on when i googled my keyword. So when lets say I was looking for "red chips" in google search my site was bouncing around from page 50,30,16, and so on. Sorry i should of made that a bit clearer.

My post is actually kinda offtopic, but here is an advice: when doing link building, always link to inner pages as well
