Hello,

Can anyone tell me if it hurts your website if you get articles from another source with links pointing to different sites. Is it possible to have to many outgoing links?

    It doesn´t "hurt" your website at all, actually, some people say that links to other websites inlcuded in your page have something to do with the algorythms SEs use, so, it may be "good" in some cases...

    Of course there are more things that must be considered when determining if for a particular site with a specific tipe of content it´s "good" or not...

      Oh yeah, and I wouldn't want to have too many outbound links. This will leak too much PageRank away from your site unless you have a bunch of your own internal links on that same page as well.

      PageRank gets divided up and spread between each of the links on a certain page.

    Mike, it depends on alot of things. First, if the article is unique and isn't displayed on other sites, then thats good since its not duplicate content. Its not bad to have duplicate content, but if your whole site is composed of it, then you probablly won't have as much authority when ranking. Duplicate content isn't punished on smaller scales, but is sometimes just filtered out from being displayed in the SERPS.

    Outbound links aren't bad unless the site isn't good. I usually check to make sure the site at least has some PageRank before linking out.

    It will definitely hurt your rankings unless you tag them with a no follow tag. Otherwise you'll be spreading your link juice to all the different sites you're linking to.

      Hey,

      I really appreciate all the feedback. It will help me decide what articles to accept. That's a good tip about seeing what the rank is of other websites. I should have thought of that myself since I read many seo articles on how to get ranked higher.

      Most of the content I accept is pretty much new content.
