How many words should my page contain for good seo?

I ran my page through a seo analysis tool and one of the warnings I got was that there are not enough words on my pages. I run a videosite, the video is the content. Besides the title and the video description there aren't that many words on my pages.

The tool said there should be at least 425 words on my pages. Is this correct? Is it an important factor in ranking good?

For a video, that's about all you can do.

I would make a more wordy index page, all video pages linked
off of it.

I always tell people to think youtube first. They get the vast
amount of traffic for videos. Make yourself a channel and
promote the channel page. Your videos need a lot of views
and great ratings.

I would always aim for a minimum of 500 words, but not really more than 700 because you can lose the user.

As for Video, well, Google loves video and will not put you down as much for not having content, your tool has obviously not taken this into account but I would still try and get some good content to go with the video.

The easiest way to put content with a video page is to have reviews or comments about the video (get your thnking cap on)

Hi there

Thats the problem with those SEO tools they give out very poor advice, your homepage should be as long as it takes to get your message across !

There is no optimum number of words on a page, otherwise everyone would just do a page with the same number of words onit.

Just keep it simple !

  I don't think the number of words counts very much in a video site.
  Just optimize it as what it is. A video site.
  -You just need to place a little, but relevant content sorrounding the video.
  - Besides embedding the video in your page, submit it to YouTube and other video sites.
  - Use a video site map to help Google "read" your videos
  - Key word in title.
  - Make the title of the page where the video is embedded match the title of the video.
  - Use keywords in the file name and URL

  I knew the tool wasn't optimized for videosites, so i wasn't sure what to think of it. That's why I asked the almighty Warriorforum
  I already started a youtube channel, it's going very well, almost up to 60,000 views now. Traffic is steadily climbing

The art of keywords and content is slightly on the decline in SEO. Although, content is a way that search engine's recognize the topic of your page.

When we are writing articles, our miniumum is 400 words and maximum 650. This isn't for SEO, it's just for readability.

I think just focusing on including some quality content, that is well written and optimized, is best. Aim for what is useable for your clients.

First, I have no experience with video whatsoever. That being said, it has been my experience that if my webpage has a minimum of 425 words, Google will index it faster.

Other than that, I have seen no difference in page ranking. The only difference is how fast Google list my page.

  This whole IS about video. The only way to do anything with videos
  is youtube. There is no other.
  
  If your page has videos, you are hard pressed to do any SEO for
  the pages other than title of page and description of the video.
  But google wants people to use youtube, not your site.
  
  That's why I recommended to do an index page with an explanation of
  what the site is about. Then max yourself out on youtube.
  
  I would build 75% links to my youtube channel, and 25% links to
  my domain. Do not, repeat, do not create backlinks to individual
  videos on youtube.com. Totally useless other than for a few
  crumbs from click thrus. Backlinks to videos on youtube is an
  oxymoron. Youtube does not work that way for their search
  results. Views and ratings. Beg, borrow, or steal your way to pump
  those up.
  
  So as far as a word count, it would not matter. But you certainly want
  to maximize the index page content for your niche. service, or expertise.
