This is it. i have a website containing only about 20 lines of html code to frame another site (where i am affiliated with). I just build backlink with optimized anchor text and i started to see my site rank well on the top of 2nd google SERP. i'll continue to build backlinks to get my site in first page of SERP

It might have something to do with the fact that yahoo site explorer is showing 10 backlinks for the site. I didn't check the PR and whether they are dofollow or not but you might have around 2 good backlinks.

Continue with the link building process and if after a few weeks there are no improvements in your rankings, start to reverse engineer and discover where the problems lie. For now, build as many backlinks as you can. Make sure that they are dofollow, that they have PR and that they come from domains with authority and trust.

Did you put your keywords in the very front of your title? It maybe the niche is pretty competitive.. hence, it would take you more backlinks to improve the rankings.

      A week or 2?

Wow! My sites, articles, comments etc. etc. does not take more than MAX 24 hours to get ranked!

Lets say that it's ranked after 24 hours, then google had picked it up 20 hours before... Because everytime my articles or what ever ranks, it says:

      h t t p : / / m y d o m a i n . c o m / m y _ a r t i c l e _ k e y w o r d - 19 hours ago

So if your sites/articles what ever takes more than max 48 hours to rank, then you're doing it wrong that's for sure! And I'm talking about BRAND new sites to!

      It's so damn simple!

      Social bookmarking (30 sites)
      Submit RSS feeds (50 directories)
      Submit Sitemaps
      Submit to pingler.com
      Submit to pingoat.com

That's all it takes, and there is programs for this kind of job! It takes like MAX 10 minutes for me to submit a article/site to that list, and it works almost instantly! I'm not going to wait a week for that when there is methods where you will be able to get indexed and ranked within hours!

My record is 8 minutes - no ****! Indexed and ranked!

I normally give new sites 3 months to rank before I get worried. Some start ranking well in a few weeks, others take longer if there's more competition.

In the meantime, you can often quickly crack the first page (sometimes in a matter of minutes) with video sites, web 2.0 type sites, articles, etc.. They borrow the authority of the site they're hosted on, so can shoot up insanely quick. example: I was recently doing an expirement on video SEO. I uploaded the video to a few sites, then decided I wanted a better "before" shot of the google seach. Well, one of the videos was already ranked #2! It literally happened in less then 5 minutes. That evening, I had grabbed 7 of the front page results.

Why would you wan't to give sites that amount of time? That's crazy! I give my sites 3 days max, or else I'm getting into work! I own 100 websites and not one of them took over a week to get indexed and ranked.

3 Months is a lot of time! My sites are earning $200-$300 per month after 3 months, but you'r sites aren't indexed at that point?

I never said they weren't indexed.. I just said it can take time to work up through the serp's. My sites start getting crawled within minutes, and indexed within a day.

If you hit page 1 in a few days with a new domain, then you aren't playing in the same competitve landscape as I am

Example: I have a site for extended car warranties. It took a few months, but it has sat at #2 in google for my chosen KW phrase for well over a year now. It generates 10-30 leads PER DAY. Anyone care to guess what those leads are worth

I have numerous affiliate review sort of sites that rank on page 1 within a week or so - but we're talking about 2 very different beasts here

Arh - but that's not what you've said (the thing about VERY competitive keywords), but then again you didn't say that you wasn't ranking for these - oh well!

Anyway... For very competitive keyword phrases it can take months, and even years to rank

I'm playing in low competitive landscapes and very competitive landscapes - but most of the times I stay in the middle, and that works really well I think

I would agree - I think you are in the "sweet spot" going to the middle. My approach in that area (with affiliate sites) is to have rock solid onpage seo, build up some decent back links, then move on. Typically within a few weeks I start to see a few sales a week start to come in.

In this case, i just think the OP needs to give it a bit more time. If those gaming guides have tough competition (I have no idea) it could take a while.

Yes - don't wait I'd recommend people to at least expirement with it some.

If your content works well with video (ie, it makes sense for the searcher to want to watch it), it can often get your foot in the door on the front page while your site moves up the SERP's.

I have yet to use video on niche site so it's interesting to note. But won't a video sort of distract people's attention to the adsense ads. Would this be a downside to it?

It's rather important IMO to update you'r sitemaps, expecially if you are using google webmaster tools, and have added a sitemap there!

Are you using social bookmarking sites?

Yeah through senuke. Also, I'm trying to update my robots.txt file in webmaster tools because I noticed it was disallowing crawlers but it won't let me update it. How do I change this?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2207772].message }}

"disallowing crawlers" - oh gosh! That's a nightmare!

Hmm... You need to get into the root of your domain through a ftp, and find the robots.txt file.

Or... Many webhosts does have an admin-panel where you can edit files.

    I'm using godaddy.
    http://hordelevellingguidegreview.com/robots.txt

    That's the link.

It should work but in google webmaster tools it's saying it is disallowing crawlers.

google is crawling you - it has 8 pages so far.

getting a blog fully crawled and indexed isn't hard. make sure your sitemap plugin pings google when it's updated. Also, add more rss ping sites besides just pingomatic.

Your site is only a few days old. Build your links and give it some time.

Try to get more backlinks for your website to increase its ranking, I prefer getting authority links. You can do this by guest blog posting on relevant sites or offering other webmasters to link to your website. It depends on your strategy.

Patient is the key. I have been doing niches site for a few months and although new to seo and backlinks I have been getting some good results, I have a few sites in top 3 of google.

Just build more backlinks and it will eventually rise.

    Thanks

      Pagerank...

Some will say that PR doesn't matter in the search engines - well I diagree... I have tested this more than once, and my HIGH PR-sites are ALWAYS ranking higher, better and stronger than the others!

      Anyway...

It's better in most cases to have 1 PR4 backlink, than 20 PR0 backlinks!

PR = PageRank if you didn't knew that...

On Firefox I use searchstatus toolbar extention. It's free. You can google it. It shows the pagerank and I can highlight the nofollow links. I think there are other ones that may even be better than this one.
