Google keyword tool question

I am using inner Google keyword tool. I want to establish number of searches in UK and US respectively, for "electronic cigarette" phrase.

If I select UK, in the 'Locations and Lanquages' it gives me: Global: 673,000 and Local: 0.

If I select US, in the 'Locations and Languages' it gives me: Global: 673,000 and Local: 0.

Now either I am dumb, or Google is dumb. It can not be that there are 0 searches in UK for "electronic cigarettes". It seems that 'Locations and Languages' selection doesn't work?

Do you have more insight into this than I do? Thanks in advance.

The best way for keyword research is not to rely on a single tool, I always use two tools for keyword research.

but, doesn't market samurai get its data from googl's keyword tool in the first place?

Where are they sourcing their search data?

You need to look more into this. The local search shows the results for the last month only but the global monthly search volume is the average searches for last 12 months all over the world.

If you want to look in which country your keyword is being searched more then you need to use www.google.com/insights/search/.

I have just searched your keyword "electronic cigarette" in it and this keyword is most popular in South Africa.

You can use the old version... Just click on the option on the right at the top of the page.

If you get "not enought data" for local try to change from broad to exact match.

I've got a similar problem that I can't find how to localize the keyword search to target businesses in a regional city in Australia. Is this possible with any program?

I tried Google's insights search and that only got as far as Country/State
