What quantity of pages would be considered a mini site? 1-15?

What quantity is considered acceptable by the Goog? 50+?

How many words or how much content is needed on a page to be considered worthy?

I would love to get the convo started about any additional info related to this.

Thanks!

IMO, you should have at least five pages. Remember content is king, I wouldn't worry about to many words. However, you should have at least 500-1000 words.

It's not length, it's quality. I had a small website, 5 pages, hardly anything
below the fold. I decided to consolidate it into 1 page, plus a blog. Looks
much better and in the past week since I did it, the traffic has improved.

It really is the quality of a visiting experience. You could make the case that
squidoo lenses are 1 page sites. When you start concentrating on how
much instead of how good, you are headed in the wrong direction.

I don't even have to mention the people here who had tons of content
that got slapped. If it's semi-good, semi-useful content, it can be of
      any length.

I wouldn't worry about to many words. However, you should have at least 500-1000 words.
      Then you are worrying.

How does Google know if your content is quality?

Is it measured by time spent on the site by visitors? or some other measure like 1-way backlinks etc.

I would also love to hear some responses. It seems like people are attacking small sites for no good reason. If I understand things correctly google evaluates pages not sites. So if you have 1 page of good content on some small obscure niche with 1000 searches a day it would seem like google would love to have content on that particular niche for its users.

There is no way google is manually evaluating billions of web paged even at 30 seconds a peice. You cant value a pages content in 30 seconds and I have seen no requirements on having to be a design or grafics expert either. I havent seen a reasonable explanation of why sites are getting de indexed or adsense accounts being banned. Why would google care if a niche website of 1 or a few pages has the best content on what the searcher is looking for.I think they would be glad to increase the options it searchers have available. I don't think google cares about website size at all.I just think the recent algo changes caught alot of grey area methods of backlinking and ranking and brought them down.

True, but Google does seem to trust 'evaluators' who give the index page of a site a 30 second or less glance to determine if it's a MFA or not. If the site looks the part, it gets blown up (like in the video I posted). But, if a site knows how not to be seen, then it's only a problem if the whole freakin' block gets blown up.

Basically, if you look like a "Google Sniper" or "XFactor" site and you get inspected you'll be deindexed. But, if your site's index page looks mahvelous or like you just learned how to use FrontPage 98, you'll probably get a pass.

Who gets inspected? As you indicated, certainly not every site. I suspect they build a list of potential suspects algorithmically and pass that off to inspectors for evaluation.

Interestingly one of my best performing pages in terms of page views and ad clicks has less than 150 words on it, maybe even less than 75 (I'd have to go count them to check).

People/google go there because it is useful. They get exactly what theyre looking for immediately with no fluff.

There are several factors to consider with this question. To Google content is king. The more content the more Google has to pull keywords from. There are some very important things you can do to increase the amount of content on your site and how specific your content is on each page and making sure you have the same page elements done correctly for each page. The first thing that Google looks at is your URL structure. Dynamic sites that use &,? and = symbols make it hard for Google to index your links. Your link should be less than 170 characters and contain the keywords that page is dedicated to. Each page should be dedicated to just one or two keywords. Your URL should look like this... (wont let me show you the http: part so ill just show you what the part looks like after the dot com. sorry) large_colts_jerseys When you look at this link you know what the link is going to take you to and what it is about. Google will see this and it makes it easier for them to index your link and your site on that specific keyword string. The second thing Google looks at is your page titles. In this scenerio your page title should be "Colts jerseys Large", Your Meta-Tags, Keywords, H1 Headers, Anchor Text, and Alt Image tags should all use the same keywords. I reccomend using the product title as the keywords your page elements are dedicated to if your site sells products. Using this technique will allow Google to index your individual pages and increase the number of keywords your site gets ranked on. When someone types in "large colts jerseys" in a search query google looks through their sites and because your site is so laser focused you will be the most relevant search result and get pulled up first. If you want to show up multiple times on the first page you can add other page elements such as PDF FIles tagged with that keyword, Shopping comparisson links tagged with those keywords. Multiple image files, video files, and blog links tagged with those keywords. This will allow you to show up on the first 4 spots for prodcut related websites. The more pages you have that are all laser focused on one keyword string, the more keywords your site will get ranked for. We typically build 3000 to 20,000 pages per site using software based off .net platform to do this. Manually building all these pages would be very difficult. You also dont want to use spun content in your pages as that is bad SEO. Its good to just use the prodcut description as the content for that page. If your tool bar is visible in your product pages you should hide those links from Google so they dont index that content for each page. The only content that you want Google to see is the content related to your keyword for that page. Im sorry this was so long but there is just so much to this that its hard to explain it without going into detail... Hope this helps a little at least. Thanks

Having the most relevant content in relation to the keywords used in the search query is the key to getting ranked on the first and second spot. To do this all your basic page elements need to be focused on one keyword string your analytics show you is the most relevant search query your visitors are going to type in. This means that your URL Structure needs to be as easy to index as possible. Dynamic URL's containing &,?, and = signs are going to be harder for Google to index and dont contain the keyword string your optimizing that page with. Page titles, Meta-Tags, Keywords, H1 Headings, Image Alt Tags, PDF Files, Shopping Comparisson Links, and Page content need to be laser focused on one specific Keyword string. I use this method and get all my sites ranked on 80K + Keywords and can prove it. Relevancy and Backlinks are the most important aspect of SEO.

There are two main important factors to determine quality of content: uniqueness and relevancy. Just make sure you're writing in a human readable way that's unique and relevant.

You can have one page that is quite valuable, in terms of information provided or the entertainment value.

You can have a 100K page site that is quite useless.

Content of anchor text is king. Like I said in another thread if you don't believe me, google the words "click here" and then analyse what comes up first.

My main competitor is not optimised at all and they are #1 up there.
