Can some help me understand this Reciprocal Link Issue, Pls?

Hi Guys

Frankly I am totally new to this section on reciprocal links, my question is, lets say I want to rank my articles now sitting on page 2 of google with maybe 30+backlinks with 0 Pagerank, so if I get 1 backlinks with a PR4, once google indexed your site it will be reflected under my backlinks this time instead of PR0, it will be PR4?

Can Someone help me understand this further?
Is my understanding correct? If not how does it works?

    Dean, I do not understand why you use the word reciprocal in your title. Your question does not include thee need for RL. Reciprocal is an old story and does not work anymore for Google. You probably need one-way links to promote.

    Second, PR and SERP positions do not influence each other. So if your real need is to move your page up from page2 in Google, then do not focus on PR (you may have PR7 and be on page 34 in Google, and vice versa).

    To make your page ranked better in SERP, you need one-way links with the anchor texts consisting of the keywords, that you want to be better ranked for. So, get those types of links and it will address your problem.
