SEO QUESTIONS FOR WORDPRESS

I am new to SEO and have a couple of questions about how to edit my site to make it more SEO friendly.

Firstly I am under the impression that my site needs to be keyword optimized for the site title, url, description & header tags right?

Ok so the URL part is easy but how do you edit the title, description and header tags for wordpress?

I thought that the All in one seo plugin would take care of it but I'm not sure...

Any info or advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks, Jeremy : )

Please help... anyone?

    Hi Jeremy,

When you use the all in one seo plugin and fill it in properly (for the blog as well as for each post individually) it will take care of all those needs you have. If you have questions on how to fill it in, let me know, I'll try to guide you through it.

Thanks guys you are s very helpful and I appreciate it! I have one more question about the title tag... I have been checking my competitions html by right clicking to "View source" and noticed that the html shows their page's have <title>"Keyword"</title> in them. I was assuming that I needed this in my page too as my page shows <title></title> with nothing in between. So I have been on the search to find out how to edit this thinking that this is what I need to do to keyword optimize my title... is this right or am I way off?

In the basic all in one seo settings, just use your keyword as the title of your blog. That's how I do it.

The following resources would help you big time:

    1. seobook.com
    2. seochat.com
    3. Warrior Forum

SEO success doesn't happen overnight and the process keeps evolving. The tactics that work now may not work in the next months. That's why it's best to have a good understanding of the overarching concept and function of SEO.

    Best of Luck !

To add meta tags to your website's homepage (which can't be done with plugins) go to settings - appearance - editor - header.php and put the meta there.!

Jeremy, did you follow the steps outlined in the articles I sent you? Also, do you have your main keyword in the title box in your general settings?

Also, do you use a cache plugin, 'cause if you do it might be that changes won't show up immediately.

Hi Leslie, yes I have followed the steps outlined. I didn't have to change much, only uncheck a couple of boxes. I have WP Super cache plugin installed... should the <title> in the html be showing my keywords in them?

Make sure your site (hosting) is up. I just tried to check it but seems offline.

If you have put in your main keyword as title in your general settings, it would, yes. If you did and it's not showing up yet, it might be that the cache plugin is preventing it from showing up, it might be there when you check later on (had a problem similar to this one a few days ago).

It has been like that since I launched the site a couple of months ago with a different theme... I have upgraded to a better theme and added about 20 plugins to this site but I just can't seem to figure out why the title and description isn't showing lol, thanks so much for helping me : )
