How long does it take to move up in Google?

What kind of back links are you building?

Are you over pinging?

Are you deep linking? Meaning are you also building backlinks for other pages within your site?

How competitive is the keyword you trying to rank for? There could be a ton of reason. Just be patient and dont panic i guess. Know one realllllly knows what google is thinking sometimes ..hehe

It gets 6600 exact global monthly searches with 154,000 results. I only build backlinks to the main page, from Angela's packets mostly off of forums and such. I'm just a little worried because of the fact that Google displays results for a different keyword when you type it in. And the only thing that I ping are the backlinks after I do them.

The number of searches really say nothing about how competitive the keywords are. You need to take a look at the sites on the first page and see how many links etc they have.

You need more than one type of back link. Lots of threads on the subject you should take a look at them. Also you site is only a month old? Unless you have a really easy niche it could well be longer than that.

You need to check your page structure and on page seo work that makes a big difference as well. Especially since you seem to be ranking for keywords you are not targeting.

Build some backlinks for some of your other pages on your blog or website. This WILL help. Trust me!

I was stuck on page 6 of Google and page 5 of yahoo for about a month then I started back linking my other page addresses from my Wordpress blog. I quickly moved to page 1 within a few days

*Changing up you on page keywords
*Back links

Even if you go these thing if you are not doing them right Google may discredit the work you have done.

it can take a few days. for one instances i didn't build any backlinks for one of my sites for 2 months. just did some onpage seo and went from position 3 to 1 a couple days after

Thanks for all the tips, but does anyone know what's happening in Google when you type in my keyword?

I don't think anyone is quite understanding what I am trying to say. What happens is you type in my keyword, another keyword shows up.

My keyword ends in "er" but when you type it in and hit search it drops the "r" and displays results for it ending in "e" or "es" rather than the keyword ending in "er" which is what I am optimizing for. I hope that makes it a little more clear.

That happens when Google thinks that people who type in the word with the R in it might mean something else. I have noticed that they have become more aggressive with this behavior in the recent past. You still should be able to click on the link to show the results you want.

The problem is that a fair amount of the searcher are wanting the alternative that Google is showing you so those numbers you are looking at are not as good as you thought. You may have to rethink your research a bit.

I had something similar happen to me in the research phase a couple months ago. Found this great keyword lots of searches etc but when I actually typed it into Google search they gave me a different version of the word without even the choice to see the results for the one I was thinking about using.

I;ve got sites to page one in a week (low competition) and some sites on page 2 in 5 months.. (higher comp)
