It has been a really frustrating week for me (mega newbie here) I know I am promoting a good product on CB, I knew I should have set my budget lower, but I am really confused to why the product I am promoting is not selling at all. What I am doing is placing my hoplink onto the Destination link part of the Ad. Can anyone please throw me a bone and tell me what I am doing wrong? Help me please.

how can u tell if it's a good product without having a clue. Tell us at least the niche and we can tell you. And if you are targetting the wrong keywords, you won't make money. And for a newbie, it isn't okay to start off with the wrong keywords, period. 678 clicks and zero sales tells your product isn't even good. the good cb products convert at 1:250.

First I personally think it's fine to start with PPC as a beginner if you educate your self properly and start small and slow.

(Let's assume the product and sales page are good.)

From the sound of it your direct linking, while this can work in many cases it just won't make a profit. But I personally have direct linking campaigns that are profitable. The thing is they are only profitable for a TINY set of keywords.

You really need to have tracking setup and be watching your metrics closely. My guess is that your keywords suck, and you have a poor message to market match in your adcopy.

Understanding the psychology behind a keyword is crucial with PPC. It determines how you should construct your adcopy, your landing page, etc.

Another thing I would check right away is if people are actually getting cookied properly when the hit the CB check out page. I put up a campaign once, spent about $50 with no sales and it turned out my affiliate id was not getting dropped in the cookie.

    Traffic + Conversion = Sales

To have converted traffic, you need to presell your visitors and the offer must convert.

That's about it - the rest is only fluff to be added.

You should definately choose another product and create a landing page design. When I started to promote Clickbank products a few weeks ago with PPC, I didn't have a landing page. By sending my traffic to the presell landing page, I highered my conversions into high profitable areas.

Where does you traffic come from? What product do you promote? Which keywords?

Here are a few things you could do:

    - Send the traffic to a product review page first and warm them up to the offer.

    - Give out a free report that covers over the benefits of the product and build your list while promoting it. You could also promote similar products and do a comparison. Focus on the problem that people may be having.

    - Tweak your campaign by making your ads and keywords more targeted so that the person clicking the ad is more likely to be a buyer. Throw out the freebie seeker keywords that don't convert.

If you're using Adwords, then no wonder.

Adwords takes a little more skill to master than it appears. One of the things you have to do is increase your quality score so that you can lower your costs per click.

Google does that on purpose because, as the number 1 search engine in the world, they want to ensure that the visitor gets the best searching experience. So your keywords in the ads need to be as tightly related to keywords on your landing page.

Your landing page could be the affiliate site you're promoting, or you may have to make your own landing page that's much more relevant.

I agree with the other marketers that, as a beginner with a low budget, it's better to learn SEO (which can take a while) and article marketing because search engine traffic is free and highly targeted.

However, if you are adamant about mastering PPC advertising with Google Adwords, then I recommend you purchase Kyle and Carson's (the owners of Wealthy Affiliate) ebook called "Beating Adwords".

It's written very simple. Easy to understand. They explain very well how to lower your costs per click and increase your quality score so that you get more targeted traffic at a cheaper rate.

      or....

If your Clickbank product happens to in the "Make Money Online" Niche, you could use traffic exchanges like EasyHits4U that are free or other Text Ad Exchanges. However, this form of traffic is poorly targeted, so your conversion sales rate would be low.

The people in those exchanges are interested in promoting their product and not buying it, but every once in a while you get some who takes a bite.

PPC or SEO is the best form of converting traffic.

Also don't forget USFreeads and check out Kim Roach's blog at Buzzblogger.com for more free traffic ideas. Be sure you check out the stuff in her archives.

    .
You can add the hoplink as the destination URL, this link can be of any format / ie an affiliate link.

The important thing is not the link but the page that link lands on once selected.

So for example a affiliate link ? www (dot) gtuyt59597653423hnbbhjfg (dot) com may land on this page www (dot) mylandsite (dot) com / thispage (dot) html

it is that land page / site that is important and must match the display URL which would be www (dot) mylandsite (dot) com

It's all about relevance. If your KWs are relevant to the ones on the landing page - then you should be cool. I always ask myself - if I was looking for "X" product - what would I type in.

Use keywords with phrase match and exact match. You better off to create presell page / review page. And select only highly relevant keywords.
