Hey guys,

I tried to get my feet wet with PPC but ran up against all the new quality score rules. Certain travel sites, affiliate sites, etc and getting low quality scores and thats pretty much what my site is about.

For me to quickly get my feet wet with Google PPC and experiment without creating some huge site full of content, what is the best option?

I think you'd be better off creating a site that has an email optin where you give away a free bonus ebook. You can use Google adwords to promote for different keywords and hope that the people that land on the page optin for the free ebook. Then you can give them some more free stuff and send out emails. After doing that, promote some products and keep building the list. This is probably your best option. It's definitely a good technique that can work well if you do it right. I'd recommend aweber if you want to start building an email list.

For me I've had no success with PPC marketing. I find an email list and a properly SEO'ed website does it for me. Don't give up hope though, I know a few who have absolutely raked it in with PPC, you just have to do it right!
